That’s impressive. I really should start looking for another rust free 2nd gen. Nothing new comes close to the simplicity and reliability of these things.

I'm beyond happy with it. I went with the integrated clear coat (= mid tier paint job) and color Toyota Inferno Orange (truck was originally ruby red pearl which had faded to an ugly pink). A month after the repaint I sealed it with Jepson's Power Lock and then every few months waxed with Collinite 476. Parked outside in the California sun, literally looks like new after 1.5 years and almost a third of a million miles.

I haven't had any of mine painted there but like most places, you get what you paid for.

I take my stuff to a small independent shop, the paint matching is exceptional. He's no more expensive and they do everything right. [all paint stuff is stupidly expensive now, paint cost is thru the roof as in 10-15 times the cost and more from when I used to do all my own work.]

i had a quote from a local shop and just the roof hood and grille was going to run me $3800

Maaco quoted me $600 for two stage paint on those same panels. $3000 to redo the whole truck. if i put the time in and pull all the moldings off, remove headlights/tailights/ and bedrail caps, i think it would come out good. the one local to me has a FB page where they post pic of current jobs and they all look great.

It was one over in Fairfield, California, they had pretty good review so I went with them. About $2600, I removed the badges, bed caps, lights, and fender flares myself and painted them separately. All part of the 20-year 300,000 mile restoration ... if you didn't know Tacomas you'd never know it was an '05.

At 118k, bought it at 114k :( When the weather is good I'm on my motorcycle. Coupled with working remote I rarely drive more than a few miles for when I need it for truck things.
