Mesh grill ruin surround?

Anyone installed a mesh grill on a Gen 2 sport?

the truck I bought came with one, and I don’t like it. I’m going back to stock. I bought a TRD sport grill insert from a member on here.

my question is do you think the silver surround is ruined where I can use it? Not sure exactly how they install them. I feel like they have to cut some tabs but not positive. I’ll post a pic of the grill on the truck now.

 

It depends on how it was done, I suppose. You can pop the hood to take a look at yours and see how it was done, but you most likely will need a completely new grill.

 

Maybe you can find someone in your regional forum to swap the whole assembly with

 

crap. I bought the trd sport insert from a guy on here and hoped to use my silver painted surround

 

not a lot of action on that TN group but I’ll try it

 

Try the facebook marketplace for nearby deals. If I keep the second gen, I would be happy to swap but I traded it in for 3rd gen.

 

I’ll check it out and see what I can find. I haven’t taken my grill out yet to see if it will work but I bet it won’t.
