I've lived here 15 years and have no local friends... and not for lack of being friendly and open. One of the reasons I would worry...

Fair. I'm just saying, imho one of the most important preps is getting a network going. Easy when we were active, go into the office, we are the ones who help everyone, and so our private needs get taken care of. Hurricane Sandy, FEMA literally was filling up the POVs from tanker trucks so that we can get to work helping others. Being out, well, getting the support network is on ourselves. And like I said, from what I can tell, LDS self preps a lot, so that they can help others if stuff happens.

Back in the early 2000s I received an e mail with a recording. spot on for were we're going. A man must have been wearing a smart device. He calls the pizza place and proceeds to build a deluxe pizza . After adding all the toppings he's told he cannot have it because it wasn't healthy.
    And, thank you .

It’s all just part of being self sufficient for us. Growing our own food, he’ll, it tastes better and we know what’s in it

Did she water bath can them? I used a recipe for my garden jalapenos and added some spices as the recipe was only vinegar, water and salt. But not water bath. They are super crispy.

I buy on-sale corned beefs after St. Pattys day every year and can it myself.

It literally is as simple as cutting it up and putting it in a jar.

Interesting, never heard of steam canning, but it makes sense.

Pressure canned food will last longer than hot water bath as well.

How so? 212f is 212f. Unless under pressure, water (or vapor) can't get hotter than that.

I always thought the only advantage of steam canning was you didnt need to heat up a lot of water. But conversely, if you have a long run time item you have to make sure you don't boil it dry.

Barsoom, are you thinking of pressure canning, perhaps?

Also, unrelated, but is your handle a reference to the Mars books?

Just remember the Mountain Meadows Massacre(I know you are aware of that) Just something to keep in mind should the SHTF. I have good friends who live in your state. They are prepped to take care of themselves and defend their property.

That's the most famous. But there are all kinds of legal and ethical weirdnesses that aren't acceptable topics of conversation here.
