    Cheers thank you!

    3/16. Thing's beefy.

I also may have spoken too early, it does look like there might be some tack welds, but no beads. So, non structural whatever it was, and unlikely from my truck. Probably going to ignore that it ever happened.

Yes I have a second Gen, and I do have SOS sliders but I have installed SOS sliders as well as a number of other sliders on 3rd gens and the connection point is a little bit different on the 3rd gens than it is on the 2nd gens. There is supposed to be a spacer or plate that is to the front connection point because it needs to a little thicker due to the 3rd generation Tacomas having a slight "Dip In" In the angle of the frame. I'm going to see if I can attach a, and be it, horrible drawing that I'm going to whip up really quick in MS paint to show you what I mean. did it come from that front area? I apologize because in the picture it is very accentuated but not that much of an angle in real life on the frame like it is in the drawing. the Red Arrows are where it points the thicker mounting point in the front of the truck.

    Hmmmmm....

I don't have the front bolts in, they're super gumbi to get to them.
Now that I'm looking at it, the shape looks like it's a two piece backing plate behind there? Both sides look like this - where there's no "plate" behind that missing bolt.
But the size, shape, and slot cutout looks way too conspicuous to be not from there.....

Yep that does look like your phantom piece...... It looks like it would have been placed right behind the main plate on this side.

I have to decide if I put that bolt in or not anyway. I need to drop these off for a clean and repsray I think.
I'll also have to see if the other one is actually gone or not, might still be in there.

Yessir! It looks like there's a gap between the two for clearance of something between them in there. Not sure without digging in, but I was just rolling around to see if I could take pictures under there, not grabbing the whole shebang.

If I am cutting one I can just cut 2. Beats spending 10 min with a wire wheel

...you think I'm cleaning that? plasti dip and throwing it right back on as is!

No I mean the whole sliders need to be resprayed. The passenger side plate of surprise might be in there or might not.

But either way I did not find a blind spot of fluid film that has a lot more rust than I thought was on my truck, so there's a blessing in disguise I guess. I'm also guessing it's a small area that's inconsequential.
Will probably spend time after NMW taking the sliders down and checking the whole shebang and respraying the sliders.

Yes it did. Thanks again. Had to mount it before wiring it.
Used double sided tape on the back of the module plus three zip ties to hold the module to the panel.

Glad the mystery was solved without me but that's exactly where I thought it went. The cross member bolt on area for 3rd gens.
