Why did my broccoli go to seed so fast ?

 

Mater, 1 T, Southern for tomato,
Looks too big for a roma, maybe Amish paste. Since it was purchased at a garden center, no telling.

 

Probably heat . Do you know what type it is ?
Whether it's heirloom or hybrid. Myself ,I'm liking Hoss seeds, Green magic hybrid, big 1st florets followed by some nice side shoots. Nice looking blueberries.

 

Second for heat. You can put down mulch/thick straw keep ground cooler. Or plant a later crop to go into fall

 

When did you plant it?

 

My son planted it around the end of May or early June

Use to fry it but these days we usually bake it in the oven. Cut lengthwise, salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil. Think she bakes it at 350 till the tips get crunchy. Love it that way, better than fried.

 

dang deer didn’t like my fence up in the garden. They are beating up on mama’s nasturtiums and roses around the house now!!

 

Saw these tonight, while mowing the back 5 acres.
Maypop passion fruit. Will need to transplant it this fall inside the fence.




PS fencing is protecting chestnut seedling from the deer.

 

The upper terrace is coming along. We’ve had lots of raspberries, snow peas, and arugula, (I miss mustard greens) so far.

I took your advice and squished about 300(ish) of them Saturday. Had several plants on their last leg so I went ahead and pulled them up and eradicated the squash bugs. There's a lot more to do but it's a start.

 

Hardy hibiscus

 

Anybody have any Hydrangeas this year hardly do squat? I think we had one last cold snap that got the initial buds. They're growing big, but only one little flower. I seem to remember having them flower already
