I have a very large appreciation for people who do body work now. This job was pretty tedious even though it went pretty smoothly overall (no fires, and it’s all pretty solid now).

She’s a good from far but far from good but it will work.

My insurance just renewed and my premium went up because I drive a Tacoma. Called insurance and they said have to put a tag tracker because it’s a highly stolen vehicle….
Cost me $310 with my insurance discount to save almost $700 on my insurance. Just a heads up to everyone look at your insurance premiums if they haven’t gone up already.

I asked my insurance if they would pay for new windows when I no longer require the tracking system and the response was "uhh...."

lol the etch the windows and install 8 trackers in the vehicle something like a air tag. If it gets stolen you call the cops and then call the tag people and give them a number and then they active the trackers. I asked the lady so I don’t need to leave my door open with the keys by the front door with milk and cookies for the people stealing it ? She didn’t understand my question lol. I had to do my wife’s Lexus also to lower our car insurance we are with co-operators

I explicitly told my insurance that it's not about the cost and that I myself do not care about Big Brother watching me as I've got nothing to hide. However, down the road, this tracking system may negatively impact my Tacoma's resale value as, less-likely a Range Rover or Mercedes buyer, the people looking for a used Tacoma would be fearful of Big Brother and the guverment spying on them for DNA samples to clone them. It's an irreversible modification where I'm not even privy to where the tags are located.

I saved money getting it installed. On the stolen list or not the last thing I want to do is pay more on insurance.

The Speedy Glass employee couldn't even answer my questions or tell me how the tags are affixed -- double-sided tape? Magnetic? Self-tapping "shit" metal screws? RTV? And is the installer a licensed 310S mechanic or just someone who's good with their hands?

I am a 310s. I was curious to see what it looks like so I went looking. I found 2 of them. This is what it looks like. I don’t think they really try to hide these things to well. Easy access spots only. They wrapped them in dumb dumb. 2 of them where on either side of the center console by the dash. I don’t think there is more than 2 due to buy low sell high - it will cut into there profit margins. I doubt it’s on the exterior (might fall off) and them being so large you can only put them in so many places and I have my kids car seats so no access behind the rear seats. Hope that helps.

I wonder if there is a lifespan on the trackers where you will be required to replace at certain point?

Old cars, liability insurance only and $30/month per vehicle is my go-to secret to own the shitboxes nowadays... they may have Christmas lights on, but electrical tape makes them go away :)

Tacomas don't sell in as many numbers as CRVs or GM half tons, so they can still be high theft risk (qty stolen as a percentage of qty insured) without getting on the top-10 list.
Yes or the company changes to new generation system/goes under. A vehicle falls off the high risk list after a few years, at which point there is no longer an insurance surcharge.

You can usually get a better deal shopping around every year. Did your insurance co. say how long the surcharge will be waived with the tracker installed? Some waive it for just two years.
