I’ve wanted to take an old block and turn into a coffee table. Not sure this one would would be would it for you instead of scraping it.

Bare block weighs around 190 pounds. :rofl:Gonna feel that when you stub a toe.
Although I could plant flowers in the cylinders and that might be cool.

Trust me I know. I have a car that’s been sitting in my garage for almost 20 years now I want to restore. I love seeing other people’s projects especially a car build!

Tuesday the 8BA block on the right is going to the machine shop to see if it can be rebuilt. Not sure when I'll hear back from them, but gotta start by dropping it off. After searching, decided another used engine might come with another set of problems. People want ridiculous prices for their "yard art". So many of them are simply missing the carb and exposed to the elements, so rusted and siezed. I have enough parts from the 59 block that maybe I can get away with around $6K or less for the rebuild.
Parts that I'm missing would have to be replaced anyway.

Apologies for the delay, it's riding season. Engine build season hopefully starts in the fall. Depending on what they say, I may have the shop do the rebuild and pop in for pics.

Yeah I bought a car 3 years ago and while it’s drivable it needs work. To many home projects in the way lol.

Block, crank, cam and connecting rods have been dropped at the machine shop for inspection.
I'll know in a couple weeks if any of it can be saved.:fingerscrossed:
Showed pics of the cracked block and they all agreed it's fubar.

Was watching a show today and made me think of you and this motor. If you can find it it’s called “ A Sweet Sickness: the Flathead Movie” basically shows a few guys with different cars and flathead motors. Also a few builders talking about building them and different things you can do to them. I was streaming it on tubi. Loving the build and hope to see more soon

Just watched that, thanks for posting it. A lot of those guys are mentioned or had a part in that book I ordered on how to build these engines.

It was good to watch. I like seeing the changes Ford made over the years to improve It. Would’ve liked to have seen more of them building them up. I’m sure they all have their own tips and tricks they do to improve them. There was another show I have to watch about some shop building one and a car to put it in to try and beat the record at the salt flats.
