What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Did some more first time (for me) maintanance since purchasing her last August with 41k, just hit 51k. Due for oil change so did that and others, with the usual favorable tools/add-ons/swaps.

-Engine oil change with motivx kit. Added

$42 F103SX : New Generation Fumoto® Valve with 12mm-1.25 Thread Size

F103SX Fumoto valve with brass drain hose adapter kit (made sure to check torque value on this, only 15 ft lb). Oem metal oil filter housing swap.

-Front/Rear diff fluid change. Swapped front diff drain/fill plugs with hex head plugs.

-T-case fluid change

-greased front driveshaft. Only 2 zerks. None on rear!



Got my anytime locker in mail. Gotta install that still.

Also discovered i have (what looks like) a cv boot leaking. Ugh.

 

I have not done nearly as much as this guy driving his Tacoma around the damn planet. lol

Had the door panels and dash piece reupholstered because I just never liked the texture vinyl Toyota originally used. Also had the center console, shift boot, and e-brake done "while I was in there." I think it turned out pretty nice.

 

Trying to sell my setup that’s all i’ve done haha. Otherwise camp and use it.

 

Did you do the work yourself? That looks like the interior of a Lexus now.

No, this was all done by a shop. Upholstery is definitely a skill I don't have.

 

If you’re in SoCal, I shop at longo Toyotas pars website. Parts.longotoyota.com believe spark plugs were 92 for the set last I checked.

 

Longo and Olathe are bae, depending on where you are located.

Hahaha they're just very good places to order from. It used to mean girlfriend, but it's turned into a term for anything that you like very much lol.

 

I wish there was a good shop in Massachusetts to do that, id like to get that done, just with grey threads

 

Back up sensor warnings,

so backing out of my driveway the other day in the rain, the sensors are going off and showing red , but nothing is behind the truck, it has never happened before and now it is, any suggestions?

It clearly stopped after it dried up outside, is there a way to waterproof the sensors?

 

Very nice job. Too bad they could just sell the pre-cut leather sheets. I'm sure there would be a few TW members having the skills, just not the time to source the material and cut it to size.

Hey y’all, I know this has been discussed before but the Tacoma forums are so big and would take forever to find again. But I am wanting to get the LED’s for the interior lighting. I believe I read where some of the lights are polarized and if you install them wrong you could blow a fuse. Is this something that occurs. Also (if polarized) how would you tell which end of the LED is + or - ? Are they marked ? Also, any recommendations for which supplier to order from.

 

On these trucks, polarized won't blow a fuse, they just won't turn on until you flip them. They can on old cars with different bulb types, but I've had no issues on modern cars.

Also when swapping the overhead console bulbs, just grab and pull the whole console down, they're a nightmare to remove otherwise.
