I WAS going to use the 15% coupon for their top of the line mitre saw…. But ended up dropping > $1.5k at the vet last week. ☹️. (No choice really, Dogs trump tools and no real need to inflate the CC as a hand saw will work). Maybe next time

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My guess is $70 MSRP, $50 on a parking lot sale coupon.

I have half a dozen or more of the current bit sets scattered between trail tool kits in rigs, in my garage, and around the Relentless shop. I've Gifted a few too and everyone has loved them and complimented how handy they are. But I've always thought about adding a selection of sockets to compliment the kit in my trail tool kits and especially in my backpack while riding my motorcycle... Now I just have to get a couple more of these new kits when they release. Awesome looking addition to their Icon line. Hopefully in the $50 range with coupons

Between a membership and black friday I picked up this band saw and stand setup for about $200 for both. I had a trailer project in mind and the saw paid for itself admirably. The HF bandsaw stands are great and can be use in a chop configuration or the traditional standing orientation.

Ideal for the home fab person, stores in about the same space as a miter saw and 2 bimetal blades are only $20.

The job required a lot of cutting. There's very little mess with a bandsaw compared to pretty much all other types of metal cutting saws and its far quieter.

The whole setup (stand and saw) from HF was cheaper then most places sell just the portaband stands for and few of those will do double duty like the HF one. I used it for 100% of the metal cutting on the scratch built trailer below.

Well worth the investment is you're into making stuff out of metal.

I have the same set-up and the game changer for me was this set-up allows you to cut long lengths of material without the frame of the bandsaw being in the way.

    Bag: Secured.
Local HFT just got the new Icon 1/4" kit in and hadn't stocked the shelves yet but was kind enough to open the box on the stocking cart and hand me one of the new kits.

Initial impression: Its not really a bit kit like the OG is... Its moreso a compact 1/4" drive socket/ratchet set with a ratchet that resembles the OG bit kit driver and also includes a 1/4 hex adapter and bits inside to increase usefulness of the socket set.
I think I had too much of an impression it would be the OG kit expanded with added sockets and in a larger case, but its not that. I'll have to see how useful I find the set before making a final judgement. The added extensions and universal joint is nice. I think it'll be most useful as a kit for working on things like motorcycles, SxS's, garden equipment, and random small home projects.

Another observation is the new kit has less bits. It excludes the smallest 3 sizes of the metric hex(no 1.5/2/2.5mm bits) as well as the 3-4 smallest Torx bits which I found very useful in the old kit

Could you swap the ratchet with the original's bit holder and 1/4" hex to 1/4" drive adapter? Part of the love of the OG is how compact it is, depth wise, for bits. Bummer you need to put adapters in the chain and make it longer to use it with bits on the new one.

Can confirm, yes this is possible, and realistically makes the new kit much better. You'd need to store the old kits 1/4 drive adapter in the old ratchet as the 1/4 drive part of the new kit fits into a hole in the case to secure it in place(reverse style of the old kit's case). I would also swap out the new kits 1/4 hex extension for the old one to allow for the pass-through T-handle functionality of the old one. The extension in the new kit is different in some way and does not pass through the old ratchet drivers head.

Good thing I have two old kits, one to spare to cannibalize for the new kit

I need to dump my cold chop saw and get one of these. What wheels on the trailer? I need some new meat for mine and those look similar to my Racelines on the truck.

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
anyone have one of the 20T hydraulic presses? my 12 ton has been great for over a decade, but ive outgrown it. probably outgrew it a while ago, but ive been making it work. wondering if the 20 ton is signifficantly better, or if i should just pony up and get a 50 ton (not from HF).

for context, the upgrade is not for physical size reasons, it's purely for increased tonnage. the 12 ton can dimple die aluminum plate just fine, but it's at the very limit, trying to do a 1'' dimple in 1/8'' steel plate.

    4 run, 2 don't
    Get a bigger one

Had a 20T, got rid of it, would be much nicer having something wider like 30" with more tonnage
