Well, that's a bridge too far for me. Now, if they were in Seattle...

I am slowly looking for a new Tacoma. Time to get out of the full size and back to a Tacoma. Tennessee had way better deals than Georgia and best of all no southeast Toyota.

    Reindeer Games of course. :D

and while I highly recommend visiting Alaska, I'm not so sure about the 4300 mile drive back unless you're retired and can turn it into a 1-2 month sightseeing trip ...

They have every vehicle on their website posted as "sale pending" to create a scarcity tactic but they're actually not pending sale. Dealer mark ups, won't negotiate because they don't have to etc.

    2024 Toyota Tacoma

    0.99% APR

    48 mos.

Saw this the other day wouldn't be bad if a discount was included. Looks like Toyota is trying to move the remaining 24s from the stop sale.

In my view, any 2024s should see a significant discount to offset being nearly two model years old.

bluebook value on a resale or totaled payout doesn’t consider when you actually bought it “new”.

but reality is not many think of such things and the dealer$ know it.

This is such a good point and could be a nice negotiation tool. I'm not good at negotiating and I think many users on this forum are as they've bought many more new cars than I have.
If I could arrange the right deal, I think I'd trade in my SR5 4x4 Yoda bought for $48,800 last November on this 2024 OR:
    https://www.atlantatoyota.com/new/T...lanta-ga-0a3097edac1812f8718a9062adb3adc3.htm
But the only way I'd do it is if I could have my 36 month term, current payment and 2.99% interest rate be the same and have to pay a bit extra for the OR with its upgraded OR capabilities. Oh, and have my extended warranty transferred to the new OR, if that's even possible.
I don't think I'd get that deal, what are y'all's thoughts?

the trouble is, while I make a good point, few buyers think of this. So it’s not really a good negotiation tool cause the dealers just need to wait for the one naïve buyer who doesn’t understand such matters.

Looking at the truck link you posted, I don’t think I’d touch it unless you could get at least 10% off TSRP if not more. There’s a lot of 2025s advertised at higher discounts from TSRP than this 2024, though you might need to travel a bit.

EDIT also note that truck has a lot of overpriced distributor added stuff. The running boards are nice but they’re $500 cheaper at the parts counter. Chunkier tire upgrade has no benefit IMHO and can be done a lot cheaper.

And if you’re in no hurry, wait a couple or three months and we should start seeing leftover 2025 getting discounts. While I can’t predict the future, I expect we’ll hear about 2026 models soon and they may start being available before the end of the year.

IMHO the “keys” to negotiating are (1) shop when you don’t need to buy, (2) never get emotionally involved / attached to the vehicle or deal - and definitely don’t get hung up on one aspect of the deal rather than the total OTD cost, and (3) be fine with walking away and waiting for the next opportunity. They’re building trucks every day. (3a) if you don’t walk out at least once, you’re not getting the best deal. When the sales guy chases after you to accept your offer before you drive away, you know you did good.

Thanks so much for your prompt reply and advice. I'm certainly not in a hurry now. I think I actually did okay on my current deal as the sticker TSRP on the truck was $52.5K, and I really am enjoying the truck. But given your advice I could've done better.

That’s always the question. Maybe, maybe not. Too many variables to say for sure - maybe you could’ve done better but the hours/days/weeks of effort and searching/waiting have non-monetary cost too.

reality is that we in Southeast Toyota territory are already bent over a barrel hoping for a bit of lube.
