The area has completely changed from the last time I was there a few years ago. I always enjoyed the Colts Neck and NWS Earle area

Me too. To make it even weirder I was stationed at Ft Monmouth in the mid 70’s when it was the US Army Signal School. I trained to be an AutoDin technician. How many people know what that is? Precursor to all things packet switching. Anyway Sandy Hook, Asbury Park , great seafood. Sorry about the left turn OP, nostalgia don’t you know.

Huntington Beach, CA to Austin, TX. Via the 10. Drove in shifts.

Man, TX is a whole different beast. Like driving through CA sideways. Takes 2 + days to get across.....

It's North of there basically Mt. Shasta so you're closer to Oregon than Sac. But yes well versed on the fun of manuals in the gridlock down there.

Ironic that they built some of the attractions and hotels around trains and the trains only run through there as night so people don't get to see them in action.

Out of left field, but to answer your 2 year old question, every 2 weeks I drive from calgary to a town called high level which is about 1100 kms or 630 bald eagles. I work for 2 weeks then drive home. I'm 6 foot tall and seat jackers are great, ECT mode for overtaking logging trucks. It does pretty well!

What I hate about highway driving is when you have to go into a big city. Especially if you have a manual transmission. Stop and go stop and go, first gear to second gear and repeat.

Knoxville, TN to KC, MO. 730 miles.

4:30 pm to 2:45 am. But I stopped and had dinner with my Dad in Nashville and stopped and took a nap in Columbia, MO.

That was the day I bought it. Then on to Denver the next day.
