You're 10 years and 2 million Tacos too late to ask this question. (Mud flaps were deleted mid-2015 with gen3.)

 

My truck came with mud flaps, but they weren’t free ($90). They weren’t worth ninety dollars and I replaced them immediately with better aftermarket flaps.

 

My 2020 TRD Sport came with them from the factory, as an added option. On the dealer's webpage they had them listed on my new 2025 TRD Sport. I paid for them and of course it arrived without them. Probably a good thing considering some of the ones I have seen lately. I installed

PK389-35R00-P1 on my 25 and they look great. Simple install as well.

 

It's more-so a port installed option. My '22 came with mudflaps off the lot.

I ended up removing them once I upsized tires.

 

^Yes they were port-installed with some option packages in some regions, not standard like on 2nd gen. I replaced mine with RokBlokz XL, which are about the same length as 2nd gen flaps.

 

Most people just trash them anyway. The front ones on my 2007 broke off in 2010. I tossed the rear ones at the same time.

Nothing comes free. You paid for them on your gen2 whether you wanted the factory version or not.

With the 3rd and 4th gen, you choose whether you want OEM mud flaps or if you prefer a different style aftermarket or none at all.

Not quite sure why this freedom of choice is a bad thing?

 

They charged me extra for mine..........or tried to.
I told them to take them off, I wasn't buying them. They left them on.
Same with those useless Predator steps. Left those on too.

 

If something's listed on the Monroney (window sticker), it will come with the vehicle. The dealer cannot legally modify the Monroney / remove listed items from the vehicle before selling it.

First thing I noticed when I picked up my Taco at the dealership. Predator Steps. I asked WTF? Dealer said it’s the only 6M in our allotment for the foreseeable future so your vehicle has got some stuff on it you didn’t order. Deal already in place. Cha-Ching. I’ll take them off when I get the $$ for some Greenlane sliders.

 

The rear flaps on the 4th gen are hilariously useless so be thankful they’re not making you pay for them.

 

^^ agree with both of you—— I got stuck with them on mine and they’ll need to get replaced with more suitable ones at some point. Since the mud guards were the only add-on they couldn’t/wouldn’t have removed from the build it didn’t sting too bad.

 

Just pulled the factory flaps off my 2023 TRD-OR.
Can't recall if they were itemized on the sticker or not but IIRC, Arizona has some laws about vehicles with a bumper higher than X are required to run flaps, so that maybe might have had something to do with it being sold here.

EDIT: Yup just looked at the sticker "Mud Guards - $129.00." So I paid for them.
