I was crawling under to find my clutch bleeder as I want to change the fluid and noticed the top f my tranny is covered in oil. Thoughts?

Mine wasn't leaking, but I did add a Marlin Crawler short shift kit that replaced all the parts associated with it. New gaskets, boot and the plastic internal pieces that wear out and fall apart. Also changed the fluid while I was at it. Was an easy job and it shifts much better than before.

i changed the fluid during covid myself and its a side fill plug where you wait for it to stop flowing out when its level so i doubt i overfilled it but I guess its possible. If its the gaskets on top, i'll have to take it to a shop/dealer.

a few more pics after a little cleaning, its really caked on there so hard to get to. no symptoms of clutch or tranny issues. could just be breather? should pull shifter cover off and look from above?

If you did the drain and fill, you can do the bushings and gaskets. They are accessible from the top through the cab. You shouldn't have to drop the transmission.

It's actually really easy. Remove the plastic parts around the shifter and the shifter boot. This will expose the top on the transmission below. Follow the instructions on the PDF (below) and replace the shifter seat and socket while you're at it, from Marlin, and bolt it back up.

i think fluid is lil too high.....easy fix with turkey baster or similar

    t1.png

see the oil baffle...just keeps majority of fluid down in housing.....not a gasket/seal that prevents all fluid from escaping
in addition, your shifter lever has heavy build up of seepage
telling me that fluid is going past baffle and out the top shift lever retainer

looks simple enough....all work can be done from inside cab
found this too to get access to suck out lil fluid
