    I would definitely do the 3.5 then bring to temp.

    I mean it would probably be okay to do it backwards but then it wouldn't all be at temp anymore and the OCD in me would drive me crazy. Also much easier to work under a vehicle that is not running.

    Yep, it would work, but it would likely be off a few ounces. It wouldn't hurt the truck, but it would drive me nuts.

    Added the 3.5, got into temp check mode, and drained out at least a quart. I'm calling it good.
