Hi y’all. I have a 2008 pre runner with a little bit of chatter coming from the rear diff.
The chatter shows up after the truck has sat for a while (overnight) when I’m ready to takeoff I have to turn the wheel a bit to get out of my parking space. And that’s when I feel the chatter for a moment. After I get to the end of the block and have to make another turn, the cheddar does not show up. And it does not happen while driving straight down the street. I don’t notice anymore issues from the rear end for the rest of the day.
when I first got the truck at 187,000 miles I changed the fluid in the rear end with the recommended synthetic 75/90. there was a ton of chatter when I first did that and then I put about four or 5 ounces of trans X in the rear end and stopped feeling anything. But now there’s that minor chatter on takeoff the nothing until the next morning
Just curious what could be going on?
    Thanks

    what kind of diff

idk about open. But mech LSD recommends dino oil, not synthetic.

There's oils without LSD additive, if LSD. To add separately.
Or with it already mixed in.

Me personally IDC and shoved in 75w140 LSD syn into my LSD.

    I'd look at the diff.
    Look at other related parts.

08 pre runner probably means 8.4. Said to be strong.
I don't see what else would be done. Unless you feel like separating the diff to look inside and resealing it. To see if you can see anything. That's about as surface level as the rear diff gets.

As mentioned above, try LSD additive. If that doesn't work, try a different gear oil. That will be the cheapest and easiest course of action that may produce results.
