I'm speculating here.. but has anyone tried using 4th gen 4-Runner leather seat covers on their 2nd gen Tacoma?
The two trucks are extremely similar in design and proportions. My guess is that the two cars have very similar seat shapes and sizes. Maybe even rear seats would work too..
Trying to come up with options for leather seats that don't cost too much.

I'm talking specifically about OE Genuine upholstery by the way.. not some garbage over-skin for existing fabric

Well, for ease of swapping and keeping your airbags functional, I'd narrow your search down to a 2011-2015 Tacoma Limited. (more likely a 2013-2015 Limited). Leather was an option on the Limited, not all came with it.

So maybe this is your cheapest way. Definitely not the easiest.

I'd be extremely cautious, especially were airbags are concerned. A side by side comparison of both model seats would be good.

On the subject of leather itself, I did a Katzkin swap. Very nice quality, and not too bad of a DIY project. I scored a set off ebay for 4-door cab at a bargain, around $250 brand new in box. I have an 2013 access cab, so only used the fronts. Removed jump seats for more storage.

Still have the rears, gray in color, if interested.

My question is if the seat upholstery covers for 4-Runner fit Tacoma. Not wanting to swap seat frames or hardware at all.

I didn't realize 2nd gen Taco came with leather at all....:)

It's about the only thing I dont like about my truck. Fabric seats in a work truck doenst make sense to me and dont like the look of cheesy "couch covers"! Looking for some quality faux leather seat covers for my '11...thinking maybe the EKR's...

Well they look nice, and price is right. Worth a roll of the dice.

Been reading all the reviews on here for the various seat covers and Clazzio seems to be the ultimate choice. So, I have held off on ordering the EKR's but the Clazzio's are out of stock on Amazon [and I dont want to order and wait 3 mos].

It's not an immediate need, I was thinking of having my fabric seats steam cleaned but for the cost of it, just rather spend the money on some quality covers.

If you aren't going to do a full seat material replacement Clazzios are differently the way to go. I've had them in two vehicles and honestly they looked incredibly close to the leather seats I ended up replacing them with in my other vehicle. I only replaced them do to the color I wanted, it wasn't one that Clazzio offered so I reupholstered the seats.

Here's what the basic PVC Clazzios look like in my standard cab.
