Ok , so now this has happened to me twice now on my 22 TRD OR and I did some searching but didn't see anything exactly like this.

So , quad cab drivers side rear door will be unlocked , but when you pull the handle it wont open. It seems ok when you pull it , but no connections where you feel that mechanism disengage or engage. I have locked it with key fob and unlocked it and you can hear the actuator going off and nothing. Lock it and unlock with app and again nothing. All other doors are fine. Tried it with the truck running and nope.

I did the pull on the inside handle thing I saw in a few posts to pull up any slack that they claimed might occur in the cable , but no go. However , I take it on a longer drive , let's say 15 miles , and park it and come back out and it works?

Maybe a battery level drop? It does sit a few days out of the week , but nothing crazy long that would be draining the battery I would think.

    thanks

On another vehicle I had the same sounding problem; it turned out to be the motors inside the lock mechanism (no longer are they solenoids) were going bad and when the battery voltage was high they would work just fine.

If you think the voltage is the key, as in my case, you might want to put a good battery charger on the truck and when the battery is just shy of fully charged do some testing.

Did you have the door panel off for anything like new speakers? The cable could possibly no be seated correctly in the handle

Resurrecting this old post as it just happened again. Randomly ran up to store and came home , went out to grab something from the rear driver side back door and handle is dead. Same thing as before with trying everything to get it to work. Inside wont work , outside , ap , fob and nothing.

    Was working then nothing!!!! Grrrrrrrr

Have you tried the lock unlock buttons on the inside drivers door panel?

I think you have done enough troubleshooting on your own. If you have warranty coverage, then use it. But be prepared for the "cannot replicate" response from the dealer. You pretty much have to replicate it in their face for them to believe you.

I had to clean up your last post to see if I understand correctly, if my edited version above is correct, I think what you are saying is that you fear the door is permanently closed/locked from ever opening again no matter whatever you try. Is that correct?

Neither the physical locks... nor.. the electric locks work.

    If so:
Have you placed a battery charger on the truck to temporarily raise the voltage? Try the lock with the driver's door switch and/or FOB with the charger connected.

There has been a recent thread here detailing the tailgate electric lock not working and the owner had to do physical damage to the truck's top to enter. That mechanism is totally different in design, but it too froze up preventing the physical lock from working also - that problem was a physical problem with the solenoid frozen in one position preventing the lock from unlocking. I haven't had our door lock mechanisms apart for exploration, but I believe they are small motors. Revisit my post #2.

Your first post was just as things were getting cold (October) and now (July) it is getting hot, both conditions batteries do not like. Motors do like the extremes either.

If you get the door open, immediately have the mechanism checked, or rather preferably replaced. If it were me, I would as a precautionary measure remove the door panel, so access was assured. When my door locks failed on a previous vehicle, I had to do damage to get the door open, in that case it was my fault as I put the door panel back together without first checking the function. Good luck.
