I heard on the radio yesterday , the highest price for regular 87 octane in Canada right now is $1.48 / litre or $5.60 / US gallon

The US purchases the majority of its crude from Canada. Are the taxes that high in Canada on gas which causes the higher price?

I think you will find that compared to the rest of the western world , the US prices are artificially low rather than the other way around .

Thats unreasonable. I think around $1/L is good. Thats plenty high for all the gas companies to get richer, but low enough that normal people can afford it.
Right now its getting close to $90 to fill the truck! I almost pay more for gas a month than I pay rent.

I wont be using the truck much. My bike gets about 300-350kms to a tank and costs about $20 to fill with supreme. Thats also riding like a maniac, if I took it easy I could probably get 400kms to a tank.
