Coil spring question/input

    Hello all,

    95’. 5 lug 2WD RWD MODEL


    What’s everyone’s input on coil springs ?

    I was looking to replace mine WITH something similar to stock ride/feel.

    Since I’m doing upper/lower control arms and radius arm replacements I was looking into replacing coil springs as well

    is it worth it or should I leave it ?
    Mine are the OEM coil springs (207k)

    I seen only two brands (mevotech and lejorfors), I think Toyota still makes OEM springs but probley going to be pricey lol.

    Coil springs rarely ever go bad. Any reason why you want to swap OEM for OEM besides the mileage? Replacing shocks will offer more benefits depending on what you're experiencing to warrant a spring replacement.

    Thank you for your input. Yeah I’m going to pass on replacing mine. I was only doing so as a preventative measure but after throughly checking mine out, not one ounce of rust and no ride issues I went ahead and passed.

    I’m still redoing the uppers/lowers/strut bar assembly but not the coil springs.



    *** side note, for my year of Tacoma the lower control arms are discontinued lol*** Toyota called me back and returned my money since they didn’t check before hand. Aftermarket or replacing the bushings from your OEM ones are the two options.

    Yeah agree with SCS
    Typically, springs don’t fail….unless impacted or a zillion miles on them (metal fatigue)

    I think your on right track
    Unless you want to lower ride height, the AM springs likely thinner than OE

    stinks about our 5 lugs and parts that are NLA. If you know the LCA’s are not bent, RR the bushes. Now the bushes would be a good AM choice bc polyurethane better than rubber.

    No, they don't. Check out suspensionlifts.com, they have 4-corner sets for Toyotas and it was the best price I found for assembled coilovers. Mine is a 4WD so different than yours but use their M/M/Y selection and look for the full sets, this will give you new coilovers with Bilstein 4600 shocks installed and rear 4600's.

    While it's true coils generally don't go bad, to access the shocks in the coilovers you need to compress the springs which can be dangerous for the inexperienced. Buy them assembled and it's in and out, 2 hour job for all 4 corners.
