A harness will just make a dog wanna pull more, it’s their instinct

Start with a professional trainer familiar with reactive dogs. No place for a collar like that.

Not true both my heelers when they were pups pulled like crazy... I switched to a harness that pulls on the armpits neither of them pulled shortly after...

Our current pup which is a Shepard heeler mix pulled something awful with a collar but once we got the same style harness that I've used on other dogs she no longer pulls...

Nah these collars work because the dog controls when it pinches. If the dog darts if feels the prongs. These work. Dogs have thick skin. This does not cause harm. It looks painful but in fact they aren’t

Maybe you can explain why they are frowned upon in most circles? Better results can be obtained without punishment.

Edit: The prong collar might work. But what do you do when the fear of punishment isn't there? Ie; the dog isn't wearing it. If a dog has a high prey drive, there's a good chance without learning how to redirect those behaviors, you'll have a dog that's fearful of the collar and in limited control wearing it. If you're having a few friends over with a small child, that could be a recipe for disaster. Same for a cat or other small animal (think skunk :)) in the yard. Much better to find a more reliable solution that includes reliable recall.

These collars work, and it’s not punishment. You can believe what you like.
No worries. But I have used this collar and it works. Maybe you should pay for professional help.

I am so sorry for your loss. He looks like he was a really good boy. That must have been really tough.

OK, I am just looking for a good harness, I use a retractable 16 foot leash and she does great when I have her close, as long as I am paying close attention to her I can keep her from going nuts, I probably pull her more than she pulls me, I have always had large and or powerful dogs, I even had a Wolf-Malamute hybrid years ago...
So I thank everyone for recommendations on how to handle a dog, I just need a harness, she also goes for rides with me all the time and she can get out of a collar and has even gotten out of the harness one when she was hooked to a tree, so I can't stress it enough, just looking for a harness... lol
