Does this look like a quality you would expect on 600$?

You have to ask about work that bad? You get what you pay for

I'd say its worth whatever it will cost to have it removed and redone correctly.

You could've done that much yourself for $500 cheaper.

I cringe whenever I hear "Mobile" in front of any service.

If you are in NJ this is chris mobile auto shop in Lodi, stay away. They dont do refunds, they said they will " redo " it but I think i wont even go back for that and just save up money for brand new tailgate.

Find you an old fashion body and paint man that does not want to just put on parts. He can make it look new for likely less than 300

Pushing for the refund makes sense. You paid them to do it right the first time, why would they do it right the second time for free?

    Lol.

I personally would not spend another dime on that tailgate, it has some nice beauty marks now and a good $600 story to go with it.

Why would the government deal with your issue? Dude offered to redo the work and you declined.

Because as far as I know its not legal for auto shops in my state to have no refund policy. What if someone else who brings their car there gets similar result? 600$ doesn't end my life, but maybe someone who is in struggle sits on paycheck to paycheck needs each dime they spent. I only went here because I use my truck daily and I only have Sundays off. This happened today, so every shop in 100 mile radius was closed, this was only one available. He told me on the phone he could do it, so I said okay then, I assumed for 600$ he knew wtf he was doing

That would have been around $600-700 at our shop and we would have disassembled, repaired, and painted the whole tailgate…

That’s kind of harsh. How about if he learns how to do a respectable job.

$5k and you are probably still waiting on some part or another.
I think I would have left the damage on the tailgate unless you plan to do a lease turn in or trade. Or you know you done doing things that could cause additional damage.
