No power tail gate. I don’t think the bottom piece would interfere, and probably is stopping the vast majority of the dust. The seals on the sides certainly would.

Cheap Amazon flexible mud flaps. Might have liked canadian OEM for more width, but I'll also be putting 255s on so they'll be a bit slimmer.

 

Did a little decoration, otherwise planning to keep the truck clean.

 

recently discovered this brand, a nice alternative to NOMAD, love it. Is the width 8.5? I wanted to ask if a wider wheel (stock TRD Offroad is 7.5) would interfere with the steering knuckle on the inner side?

 

Which roof rack are you guys using that will hold a RTT and or two fat asses.

Our office has a 2025 OR premium. As the manager, I used that at a charity event Friday, and returned a whole lot of gear to the office early Saturday morning.

Since I needed to do some work at our remote cabin, and the office was on the way, I gave the truck its inaugural trip in the woods.

I assumed (I know, I know...RTFM) that when I put it in 4Lo, most, if not all of the nanny devices would be disabled.
Nope.

The moment I left the old rail grade and was on the trail, the alarms were sounding almost nonstop. At one point I encountered a Ram 1500 heading downhill, so I backed down to a place where I could pull into the trees safely and let them pass. The truck was screaming like a little girl who walked into a web full of spiders.

Will be reading the manual before the next time. There HAS to be a way to hit the trail in peace.

On the plus side, the ride was physically comfortable: much more like my wife's 4Runner TRD Pro than my personal Taco OR with the factory lift and leaf springs. So, there's that.

 

100% agree. I think I saw someplace here, or another forum, how to disable the sensors. You cannot adventure in the weeds without the truck constantly screaming at you.

 

The truck needs a trail button or something that lets to disable a whole bunch of stuff with one press.

 

Avid reader, 1st post. Just wanted to say thanks for the input and share. The latest was adding TRD Pro wheels w/ Bridgestone Ascent tires. Done, for now.

When I read stuff like this I start to wonder if the phrase - I wouldn't take a 4G off road - will become common when people ask about which all terrain tires or lift kits they should get. I't probably won't, I don't expect any modern vehicle to get away from the saftey systems but can't Toyota build an off road truck trim that has the least amount of saftey tech possible for the purpose of going OR?

 

For what I wanted, did 265/70/18. That's 32.65", just shy of 33s. No other suspension mods, no rub. Wanted the most comfortable on-road A/T tire I could find and accommodate the 2-3 days of the year I'd spend in GA/NC unpaved trails.

 

we did fight with toyota but shortly afterwards was run off the road front right bumper hit pole so they had to replace front bumper and flares insurance covered it so in the end it was fixed....

 

Wow, an old 250R. 1983? I had a 1985 that I bought brand new. It was the first year for liquid cooled. I so wish I had kept it.

I've been looking for a good dog seat cover for a while. Did that one come with a flat, stiff bottom? If so, where did you get it?

I'm happy with it. There's a rigid enough bottom to support a 75 lb dog without sagging. The surface is a little slippery for my dog's paws, so I added some left over heavy duty workshop rug like material and his front paws don't slip now when trying to sit up and look out the windows.

 

I have been using this one and like it for our 2 large Akita's. So far that means about 185 lbs between them, but one is a puppy at only 7 months old and will get much bigger.
