Just to find a few issues I'm working through. Need shorter rod ends on the bypass shocks to get full bump. Also one of the upper link Heim joints threaded in but won't come out. I suspect that there was a burr in the threads. The threaded bung needs to be cut out and a new one welded in. So in holding pattern for parts.

Got a few things done last night. The shorter shock rod ends were delivered so I got those installed. Frame side bump stop mounts tacked on. And panhard bar axle bracked tacked on.

    Few things accomplished today.

That was the last of the brackets that need to get mounted so it was time to cycle the suspension.

Found out I'm going to have to cut the bumper back. The tire hits on full stuff.

Things left to do. Burn in everything, modify rear bumper and sliders. Fab up new exhaust.

Are you staying with drum brakes, or is a disc conversion on the schedule?

As much as I don't want to I'm staying with drums for now. I've heard the parking brake on the disc conversion isn't so hot. Since I'm a manual trans I need a good brake. North West Fab has been teasing the idea of releasing a transfercase parking brake for Toyota cases. I hope they do because that's when I do disc brakes also.

can you explain to the class why you have a swaybar on the rear for all the 'swaybars are bad for off-road folks'? then ill link to this every time someone mentions you have to remove them for off-road lol

    Because Trophy trucks run them...

    Short answer
Helps even out the spring Bias since the front has 600 lb and the rear will be a dual spring 250 over 250. So as the body rolls the sway bar helps add extra spring rate to the rear corners. This helps make the front suspension put in more work and even out the chassis.

The sway bar isn't heavy enough to keep the rear from fully flexing.

Yes. Rear sway bars good. Front sway bars bad. Plus, I'll bet your rear sway bar is a bit softer than the stock front, at least the long arms will give more leverage...in effect 'softening' the rear.

It's definitely softer. It's designed to work together with the 3 link setup.

Momma says front sway bars are the devil!

Beautiful setup, Jason. It's outta my league, being a poor, retired truck driver and all.

Besides, WI winters would chew the shit outta all of them heim joints!

It's not that bad. Worst part is cutting the old stuff off. When you're ready let me know, I can come help if you want.

I appreciate it, I'm not stressing too much. Just don't wanna get the lower shock point angle wrong. Thinking of taking apart my leaf pack like you suggested and placing a "block spacer" to test the knarticulation and keep from rubbing the shock at full bump. I like cutting shit off, got pretty good at removing front cab mounts!
