Maybe im just cheap but you can easily sandblast and paint those, or scuff and paint them. either way looks good !

Mostly cosmetic but she ain’t stock(looking) anymore.
Hey you’re not cheap and I don’t have big bucks, some people have the ability to do things that others don’t. I have no equipment, space, or time to do that and I’m terrible with paint, but random internet searching and turning a couple screws, can do.

Pulled the evaporator core again, found out I fucked up putting the O-rings on and managed to cut them in half while installing... Pulled a fresh vacuum with new O-rings, and it loses pressure in 10 minutes. Thinking I'm going to have to try pressurizing the system with... something and use the old soapy water trick. Hopefully it's not the AC line inside the evaporator box, that'll be a pain in the neck to find.

I did. That's how I found the evap core leak. There isn't a bit of glow anywhere right now.

Ah gotcha, that is frustrating then. I remember when I rebuilt my system it was a pita and those fittings are so delicate.

Installed some L-track in the bed of the truck this evening. I ran out of ¼-20 nut-certs so I hand to spread out the mounting points, ill get some more at work tomorrow and get them completed. I have another pair of 48" tracks I'm thinking of putting down in the floor of the bed as well. 20250717_195208.jpg

Super late reply! Yeah it's pretty fun to draw on the bumper :)

2.7L 3RZ-FE, 5-speed manual, 285/70r17 (hand me downs from my 5th gen 4R) and now with the 4.56 re-gear. It's overgeared now, but it's not a highway cruiser. 65 max speed, and speedo is 10mph off. I have a new speedo gear on order to try out, should move it close to stock. Overgeared because... maybe I'll go with bigger tires one day haha. But also for wheeling it's nice.

Replaced a torn intake boot. Although the duct tape mod was holding.

Replaced my master/slave clutch cylinders. I was having a problem with 1st/R getting stuck in gear when slipping the clutch, turns out it was from clutch pressure bleeding off while holding for more than a second. Replacing one of these fixed the problem, but it was super easy. Took like 15 min to swap them out.

So i sent my driveshaft out to have the carrier bearing replace and a blallanced , they said my u-joints still looked good. It was definitely a end of the day job,as the bearing was put on the wrong way. It dosent look like the Spicer unit that I asked to be installed and provided. I marked all sides the marking are not present, the back 1/2 isn't painted. Dose the direction really matter? I installed one on my other truck with it upside down, maker not showing. I had crazy vibrations.

Put her on some fresh 5100's. Insane upgrade from the original suspension that came with the vehicle. Not as comfortable as I might have liked, but way smoother than suspension that was 100k miles past its life.

When you say "65mph max speed, speedo is off by 10" does that mean your "max speed' is 75mph? Why do you say it's "max", your truck should certainly be capable of going faster than that, although I don't blame you for not wanting to.

By my math, your RPM to vehicle speed ratio should be almost identical to mine with 245/75r16 tires and 4.30 gears, and I'm very happy with how it drives on the highway. Yeah, 80mph is 3000 RPM in 5th, but the 3RZ doesn't mind that and I get 20-22mpg on the interstate at 70-80mph. I plan to switch to 4.56 gears if I ever go to 33" tires.

Replaced the driver’s side CV boot that had torn. Got an OEM boot kit and the required fancy pliers required for the kits clamps, only to realize that the inner boot doesn’t form perfectly to the axle. Of course I notice this having the axle all reassembled already. You can see the small gap where air/grease can seep out.

    IMG_5640.jpg

Only thing I can think of is this isn’t a stock axle and the shape on the inner “canister” that holds the spindle is just slightly different. Tried to seal it with some spare silicone caulking I had laying around.

    Am I cooked? How bad?

    IMG_5641.jpg

Only other option was abort and buy a new axle which I wasn’t going to do. We’ll see how it goes.
