Supercharged engine rebuild

I picked up a 31" extension for my 1/2 impact, was able to lower the trans about 2 inches to access the top bell housing bolts no problem. Ready to pull the engine.. not exactly sure how we're gonna sling it to hoist it yet. I did see a video where they bolted brackets to the intake manifold, not sure i like lifting the engine by 4 bolts on top of the engine tho.. ideas?

 

Did you get that monster extension from O'Reillys? After doing one TOB with every extension that I had, which robbed all of the impact hits, that long ass beast made the work so much easier. Saw the set hanging there and knew that I needed it. Haha!

 

Lol no I found one at a local tool store, its legit 31" long, still had enough torque, didn't have to hammer on it, will take a picture soon

 

I bet those 4 bolts are way more than fine...the 2GR is around 350 lbs or so. I pick up 500 lb Jeep cast iron 6 cylinders with 2 bolts, just one per side securing the chain to the cylinder head.

 

I bought a set of long 3/8" extensions for my transmission removal...regretted going 3/8". They were twisting a bit before the bolts would break loose. Definitely 1/2" is the way to go.

 

Might be the same ones that I grabbed. Yeah, though. My brushed impact worked great with it. Similar with the torque wrench for installation.

Ig the dealer actually in fact did not have a block on hand, and/or won't have one, so I found a full engine on ebay, has everything on it for 5k, prolly just gonna get that, dont quite wanna dick around with buying a 80k miles block with no crankshaft, rods, pistons. Just a straight up block. I almost would rather get a used engine with 23k miles and drop that thing straight in and supercharge it.

Just about got the engine pulled, all we gotta do is take the oil filter housing off and should be clear

 

For what it’s worth, the short block is a full rotating assembly. It’s the block, pistons, rods, crank all assembled and in a box. What it lacks are cylinder heads, oil pans, timing cover and components, valve covers, etc.

Lol we spanned 3 trusses and had 2 4x4s

Pulled the valve covers off, the cam rocker arm was completely briken off.. hmmmm

 

Broken? They just sit there in top of the valves. It might have been out of place, but the only thing to “break” would be the roller/needle bearings.

 

That's wild.

There was a person recently that found an extra rocker hanging out in there.

 

It wasn't broken actually, but def came dislodged from its spot, probably why that particular cylinder overheated?

 

Odd that it came from out of its spot. Was the engine revved beyond redline? Typically that is what makes these fall out of place. Is the roller seized at all?

Could definitely be why that cylinder overheated, as you're trying to force all your exhaust air out of half the valve area.

 

I was thinking thats why the cylinder blew up, it had 70psi.. everything else seemed fine

 

Ig now I'm just completely tearing down to look for any signs of the installer messing up, since I got an entire engine coming
