Saw deer on cameras near our figs last couple of days. They know when figs are ripe.

    Picked today.

Yes, they do. We had put fence around one of the figs. Moving another baby fig inside the fence this fall. Our largest Brown Turkey is 15-18 ft tall and is staying where it is, so deer is helps themselves at night. We cannot reach the top half to pick it, so birds and wasps help themselves too.

This thing grows like crazy. I prune it back to 1/3 that size or less and it just takes off every spring

This little outfit was wandering by itself this morning . It paused long enough for some pictures and munch on the sweet potato vines.20250724_103959.jpg

Ours have been kicking, I gambled and put them in early and it paid off. Wife has a butt load of goodies put up, with the help of Miss Wages packages. Today she put up more chicken and 5 pints of sweet relish.

I am in zone 7b, and Brown Turkey grows well.
Olympian fig is for zones 6 thru 9, so it will do great in OK.
We picked another gallon of figs today. Should be picking about a gallon every 2 day for the next 2 weeks. Need to bring the Little Giant out and pick the top of the tree.

13 year old tree, we will miss it when it is gone, it has been good to us.
We are not making any jams this year. Still have 2, 3 dozen pints of fig jam from years past. We just do not eat it fast enough. I need to start cooking with it. Chicken and figs good. Need to try porkchops and fig jam.
