My gen 2 had a driver side pillar grab handle to assist getting
out of the truck. Are there any bolt on handles for gen 4 ?
I really liked rotating sideways in the seat and grapping the pillar
handle to plant both feet on the ground at the same time.
Also my gen4 driver door refuses to stay fully open and I end
up pushing back open with my foot.
    regards

That area is packed with wiring and airbag. Not the best area to install parts.

I would never want to impede that airbag with a grab handle. On the other hand, the passenger side A pillar has a somewhat recessed OS handle there. Got to wonder why Toyota engineers didn't include one for the driver's side too...

The airbag deflects backwards from the grab handle. So, I think it's all good.

the GX and landcruiser both have grab handles on the drivers side. they obviously have different a pillar angles but the platforms are similar enough i would imagine there has to be some good reason there isn't one on the taco and the 4runner.... i just don't know what the reason is.

TNGA-F is an expensive club. Membership with the LC300 & LX at our price-point cost us our drivers grab handle and a few other items. Worth it, though.

My truck came with a big circular grab handle on the driver side.

Just bought a used new to me '23, why would not put one?!?!?! Yes, I understand safety and put an airbag, but I'm sure the engineers could have come up with something SMH

Attached to one end of the steering assembly. Accoutrements include but not limited to a big pad that makes a loud noise, entertainment controls, instrument controls, and cruise controls.

+1 for a drivers side pillar assist handle. I missed it when I sold my 1997 first gen for a 3rd gen.
I still miss some form of handle on my 4G driver side.
The passenger side low slung handle is fine, but it has a learning curve for new riders.

I put a pull strap for the 4Runner lift gate behind the upper bolt in the passenger a-pillar. Reused the factory bolt. Trimmed the vanity cap. Looks pretty good in my opinion. My wife couldn’t manage the useless finger bucket, this she can grab and pull herself in.
There’s already a factory bolt and washer and not insubstantial plastic in the trim piece. This is going to make absolutely no difference to the airbag.

I’ll grab some when the dogs go out to pee.

Not of the dogs peeing. That’s just weird.
