    A power driver's seat isn't necessary. ;-)

I'm never concerned about range with 330 to 358 mile range EVs.

They'll easily travel for 4 hours at highway speeds.
I or my wife usually like stopping at 2 to 2.5 hours for a snack, a pee, some food or a crap.

An EV can be charged from 20% to 80% or 85% in 20 or 25 minutes. It's even faster with the newest chargers.
It doesn't need to be charged to 100%.

How many 1,000 to 2,000 mile road trips do most people take every year? One to none.

Driving long distances in a gas vehicle is a waste of time, wear and tear on a vehicle, money for food and hotels.

Take a jet and get there in a few hours. Rent a vehicle at the destination.

Warming up your gas vehicle for one or two minutes every day is a waste of time. That's 6 or 12 hours a year wasting time and gasoline.

Gas station stops every week are a waste of time.
Oil and filter changes are a waste of time.
Brake pad and rotor replacements are a waste of time.
    Stolen catalytic converters. Time loser.
Coolant and transmission fluid changes. Waste of time.
Transfer case and dif oil changes, waste of time.
So are spark plugs, air filters, mufflers and exhaust pipes. All a waste of time.

Warming up an EV in a closed garage. Priceless, as is charging it up at home any time, 50 or more weeks a year.

When Toyota starts selling a 300+ mile EV Tacoma, my ICE Tacoma will be sold.

The EV will be smoother, quieter and have more horsepower and torque, and it won't be a waste of time like a gas vehicle.

Great grandpa didn't want to give up his horse and buggy either. ;-)

Gasoline vehicle fires are a waste of time and money.
Gas vehicle fire rate is 1,530 per 100,000 vehicles.
EV fire rate is 25 per 100,000. A small number in comparison.

As a gas vehicle lights on fire somewhere in the USA every couple of minutes, there's always a gas vehicle burning somewhere at all times in the US.

Gasoline leaking from fuel tanks and fuel lines presents an explosion hazard which is extremely dangerous in enclosed garages.

Any vehicle fire, whether EV or gasoline can burn up a garage, or burn down a house.

Stats from the National Fire Protection Association and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

haha to be clear, I meant the gas tank should be big enough for the average user to get 350 without mods etc. I get about tad over 300 with my 23OR stock and that’s horrible imo. Then again, I’ve been know to refill empty cups while cruising down the highway :anonymous:

So somebody more familiar w/ Toyota's announcement on new year model changes history.... Tundra's released today (as we know, Tundra is often the lab rat for Tacoma) does that mean 2026 Tacoma's press release comes now very soon, or typically months from now?

Old enough to remember when new model year Tacomas physically showed up in Sept /Oct like most vehicles. Now, not so much.:(

    Facts.

That's why so many people in America are poor and struggling. They can't do math, and they have short attention spans.

U should see books, they have thousands of times more words! ;-)

    Merry Christmas....

The Toyota press release announcing the changes for the 2025 Tacoma... Dec 17th, 2024.

I dare to hope it's not that long of wait for 2026 info.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
I'm a Sunday driver and I'm averaging 25-28mpg on my TRD Offroad. I've seen as high as 29 on a mostly highway trip. But I would still like to see a bigger gas tank; at lest 20-22gal.

My wife's Sienna is averaging 36-40mpg on a 18 gal tank yet somehow whenever I drive it, its always on E...

and frankly, a power seat without memory is a big miss.

I adjust my seat and leave it there. Only time I readjust is after someone else drives (family member / carwash / service tech). One button to return to my settings was really nice when I had it in a prior vehicle.

I took delivery of my 2017 Tacoma in September 2016, the online build/config was live in August 2016.

2018 Tacoma specs leaked in August 2017 (third year of 3rd gen, akin to 2026 being third year of 4th gen)

As for 2026 Tacoma changes, we shall see.

That's a lot of self justification peppered with a bit of disinformation.

F150 Lightning and Rivian R1 have coolant and brake pads and plenty of other regular maintenance items - and even some new ones like drive unit fluid.
    https://www.vdm.ford.com/content/da...2/2024_F-150Lightning_MaintenanceSchedule.pdf
    https://rivian.com/support/article/what-is-the-maintenance-schedule-for-r1-vehicles

As for finances - your electricity cost per mile is about 1/3 of the gasoline cost per mile. (based on 330 mile range per 100kWh battery or 18mpg fuel, at 16 cents per kWh or $2.85/gal fuel which are local rates here) So over 100k miles, I've spent about $15k on gasoline vs about $5k I'd have spent on electricity, but paid $15k or more up front.

And remind me, when is it I'm supposed to change muffler and exhaust? Not seeing it on my 2017s maintenance schedule and both are just fine with 100k miles.

(edit - oh and as to the fire risk, I notice that one of the largest US cargo shipping companies operating in the Pacific is only banning EVs not gasoline vehicles? Wonder why...)

Thanks. I hope the slower Tacoma trend does not continue - press release for 2025 Tundra changes - Aug 13, 2024 ('25 Tacoma not until mid Dec, as I posted)

Worth noting that 2025 was the second year of the 4th gen Tacoma and the fourth year of the 3rd gen Tundra.

Basically I'd say it's a toss up as to when we'll know anything more about '26 Tacos.

I'm surprised you didn't buy an EV truck. What a lot of folks don't bring up is the energy used, by EV's, when running the AC (approximately 20-30% loss in distance), heater (approximately 50% loss in distance) and towing (approximately 50% loss in distance)... These are all numbers retrieve from the web.

What if you go to a town where ev charging is limited and you cant get a charger in your house for certain reason.. i have literally seen evs on the side of the road with no charge due sitting on a closed roads. The best is the fist fights at the chargers because people cant get along

Or the ev chargers that run off of diesel powered generators makes no sense.

Wait till the cost of kw goes up more than gasoline. Here in northern Kalifornia, PG&E runs a monopoly. I can't shop for cheaper energy.

What's the difference between seeing and ICE and a EV on the side of the road because of lack of fuel/energy? Both required piss poor planning by their owners.
