The houses are definitely more affordable in Bakers Patch vs other parts of CA. The air quality isn't great, the summers are hot and there's a noticeable homeless population.

Last time I drove through I stopped at In n Out and for the first time in years the tomato's were super fresh and tasty. Just about every other location I've been to has had anemic crunchy tomato's. :puke:Probably due to all the Central Valley farm land.

The housing is cheap for a reason!

Bakersfield is bad. If you want creepier, go visit Trona.

If you look at a topo map of California you'll see a large part of the state is a long valley right down the middle, ringed by mountains on all sides. A big bowl. The only break is the delta, to the right of San Francisco. Winds move air in and out of the valley through that notch. Bakersfield sits at the very bottom of that bowl and all the crap air ends up down there.

“2 hours away from everything!” My dad used to tell people as me and my brother were growing up in the SJ Valley. I’m not from Bako but I was raised in the Valley. Bakersfield and Redding have got to be the hottest places in the summer in the Valley!

I was talking to one of the doctors I work with and she was telling me when she was done with med school they offered her and her other med school classmates to go do their residency in Bakerfield and they would forgive all their loans. None of them took that offer.

I didn't plan on being in Bako but ended up there. I made a fatal error of sorts on my roadie last September. I was planning to visit Yosemite and Sequoia. I did not realize that there are 2 main ways to go from Yosemite to Sequoia. Either you drive through Yosemite and pop out the other side and then go south. Or you drive south from Yosemite on the east side of the mountains and come back north through Bakersfield.

I had left Yosemite for the day and drove all the way back out to Lee Vining. Only to realize, I have to backtrack into the park at 8pm at night or go through Bakersfield. Ugh.

I get off the freeway in Bakersfield to get gas at Sams Club. MISTAKE. Every Californian is in line at Sams Club for gas.

That town was straight up ratchet! I had always thought it was just this rural farm laden area, no real city streets.

I hope you enjoyed your time there lol

I remember a couple of years back there was a member on here selling a tube bumper for a 1st gen tacoma for a good price. I seen it posted for a while so I finally sent him a message about being interested in buying it. He told me his location (Bakersfield) he said im not sure if youre going to want to come up here. This is the armpit of california lol. I had never been to bakersfield at that time and I went back and forth trying to decide if I should take a trip up there. Finally decided not too. I believe he had said that he been trying to sell it but no one wanted to go up there. I wonder if he ever sold it.
