I was turned on to this manufacturer with a similar tire they have. These I think, not proven yet, will with the sidewall nubs offer better traction in sidewall rock faces such as Moab and Fordyce.

Oh, it will get a lift or a least some suspension work, just not at all sure just what yet. It will be the last major thing I do.

I've tried it once now and I will say I think I feel some difference. Time and remembering to turn it on will tell.

I'm in more of red dirt with rock. Barnwell mountain, bridgeport are my closer areas. I like the side lugs also, it's hard to find a decent tire with side lugs. They aren't to badly priced too, tires have gotten crazy expensive.

Larger heavier tires yielding better mpg??

Stock tires were getting me 20ish mpg, now it’s reporting maybe 18 at best with 255/85/16 e rated and that’s a lie because the speedo/odo are off.

This is my second response to this comment. YES, the ECT button does help more than a bit. Thanks.

What I haven’t heard on this forum after all the threads promoting its use is that it also increases the engine braking. This is the most noticeable improvement in my case.

I never said larger tires would yield better mpg. I wouldn’t put too much faith into the on the fly mpg computer thing. Even if you did your mileage still went down. Let's assume those tires are 8% larger than stock (size varies from manufacture to manufacture), or to appease OldSchlPunk, their circumference is 8% longer, 18x1.08=19.44, that’s less than 20. You also said 18 "at best" so it's probably lower.

Anyway, my point is the gas mileage hit isn't as bad as you think. Not saying mpg somehow is better than stock though. That's because people often forget their odometer/trip meter/speedometer/mpg computer is now off a bit making it appear slightly worse than it actually is. Same thing with people thinking a regear is making their mpg so much better, might be a little bit but I doubt they're considering what the regear did to their odometer/trip meter/speedometer/mpg computer.

35 " tires weigth primary resides north of 60 lbs per tire. Even if you fix your speedo, 3.5 on stock drive train will suffer in all areas

Ok… not sure how that relates to fuel economy though.

All right, I’m out. I really don’t care about mpg enough to talk about this anymore. If I did I would’ve bought a Prius.

Tires look good OP, sorry for going off topic.

Skinny 33" tires without a lift and using the alignment to move the tires forward in the wheel well works quite well. You must have some negative offset or very wide tires to rub.

Actually I guess technically they are 34s? 285/75/17 and I rub at full lock for sure with cab mount chop. Was thinking of getting caster adjustable uca like spc but I keep hearing mixed reviews on those?

Have you had the alignment done where the wheels are moved forward? This needs to be done by an experienced shop though.

I have they are the ones that recommended the caster adjustable UCAs. Currently running rough country UCAs that came with the lift kit I purchased but unfortunately they are not adjustable like the spcs.

Ok, some of the caster adjustable UCAs move the tire back, which is what increases the caster. This is the wrong way to make room for tires in the wheel well. Don't know what your UCAs do, but I think they may do so. Especially if you already have a Cab Mount Chop and still rub.

Using the LCA alignment to move the tires forward is the easiest and cheapest way to go, this also increases caster - just may not be enough for tires over 33". Some say an increase in caster is good when using larger tires. The SPCs can further move the tire forward, but this can decrease the caster. Both make more room at the rear of the tire for clearance with the pinch weld and the body mount. Trimming at the front of the tire may/will become necessary.

This thread has inspired me to block up my FJ Cruiser and put it's 315/70r17 BFG KM3s on -10 offset wheel, on my Taco with 305/70r16 on -6 offset wheel, and see how the cards fall.

    Know nothing about the FJ.

The 305/70R16 KM3s according to tire rack are only 32.8" in diameter - you might have some luck with this. I'd use a lot less offset rims myself. I just put my tire of choice on my stock 16" rim and tried it out in all positions. You could do the same; If the look is not good then take a guess on the offset you would like to see.
