I am trying to get a good deal on some 2021 Tacoma 2wd rear springs for my 2015 Prerunner. On some Toyota pages it shows up as not compatible by searching for the Vin, but then I see that some people have made the swap on their 4x4s. Anyone with knowledge on this can help me?

So both trucks are pre runners. Correct?

My understanding is that 2nd and 3rd gen shock and springs are interchagable. Several here have installed 3rd gen takeoffs, front and rear, on their 2nd gens.

I am not 100% sure! The guy live in California and I live in TX, so, there is a 2 hours difference between us. I'm waiting a little longer to communicate with him. I also had the same idea. I even thought the rear springs on a 2wd and 4wd were interchangeable. That the only difference might be that they might be stiffer.

They're interchangeable. Get the springs and enjoy.

That's what I thought! But then when I search for the part number this pops up.

I think all that matters is the are both 6 lug trucks.

From 2005-2023 the leafs are interchangeable on all 6-lug trucks. Same length, bolt sizes, carrying capacity, etc.

Some people like to use new u-bolts when changing leafs since they're technically a single use item (the threads are designed to stretch slightly), but many others don't replace them and wind up being fine.

There are no 5-lug 3rd gens, so the leaf packs are interchangeable with your PreRunner.

Toyota however has a wide assortment of part numbers for springs with subtle rate differences for each model year and trim level. Unless you get the exact part number for your VIN, the Toyota part catalogs will show not fitting.

The 3rd gen springs will fit, though probably stiffer and ride an inch higher than what your truck came with from the factory 10 years ago (considered a good thing by most people).

Much better for me! I removed my lift kit a few months ago and left the truck level. In the back I have the OME Dakars without the 3rd leaf and one of the Overloads. I have 1.5 in the front.
