New suspension installed, sway bar removed, massive driver's side lean

    So I just had some King shocks installed and removed my sway bar. Probably took the truck out for a drive and bombed through some sand whoops. I parked it in the garage and noticed a massive driver's side lean. I measured from the wheel center to the fender, although my feders are chopped but I'm sure they're even, almost 1" lower on the driver's side.

    I had the work done by a reputable shop but I can't say that I was specifically looking for the driver's side lean when I first picked it up.

    Assuming that I didn't pick it up like that, any idea what could have caused it? Or how to remedy it? I measured the thread left on the front coilovers and the ride height is set equally on the front coilovers.

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    all Tacos lean on the DS to some extent. It's called the 'taco lean'. Seriously. Look it up.

    You had it before, but it may not have been quite so much.

    Don't Kings have threaded shock bodies? If so, I'd raise that side a bit and lower the PS a bit, if even is your goal.

    You can add a 1/4 inch spacer on the driver side. It should add about 1/2 inch on the driver side.

    I've heard of the taco lean but didn't know it would be so pronounced. Does that still look like a normal amount of lean?

    This is normal. On a stock truck the driver's side spring is stiffer, and the sway bar is taking up some of the lean. With your Kings, just crank the driver's side spring perch about half an inch to level your truck left to right.

    Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
    The first thing I'd do is measure the shock length on both sides. Then I'd check the left rear leaf springs to make sure you don't have a broken leaf (or 2).


    edit: I won't comment on thrashing newly installed equipment.

    I had brand new King 3.0 IBPs installed front and rear if that helps. Also I measured the shocks they appear to be at the same height, no broken leafs from what I can tell (Icon rxts).

    That's why it's leaning.
    The driverside collar should be adjusted ⅜" - ½" further down than the passengerside. Wherever you got the shocks from must not have set them up correctly (yes, normally there will be a right and a left for this reason, as well as for fitment of the reservoir hose).

    Passenger side is facing the light and has grown more. Back in for a few weeks and it should even out

    Yeah the left side of the truck is heavier with the fuel tank and battery. Uneven corner weight means your springs should not be set at the same preload.

    If you constantly carry tools and gear in the bed, put them along the right side of the bed to even out the weight distribution.

    Its been years since I did the install, but (my), Kings are side specific. Guess thats because of the reservoirs. Kind of hard to mix L&R up.

    EDIT: Checked my truck. My coils are marked the same. Guess that means they are not side specific. I do have a 1/4 plate above the Kings, (on the driver side). Also I have ~9 threads showing on driver vs ~7 on the passenger. Good luck.

    How are those brakes by the way? Did you do a conversion in the rear?

    My truck is heavy, ~5400 lbs. I needed the upgrade because the stock brakes would fade on long trails. Brakes no longer fade. I have the rear disk conversion kit, its been sitting in the back room for about 3 years. :anonymous:
