anyone else a dirty steak fan?

I love its simplicity, it's almost immediate cook time, it's caveman feel.

I've had good results with it.

Grilling in progress. Keeping it simple today, spicy italians and roasted corn.

I wish I would known about charcoal chimneys 20 years ago lol

I've used chimneys for years to get my charcoal started, even with lump charcoal.

my load area, in my grill would require a little bit more than an average chimney can hold, now with that being said, the chimney, is a wunnerful tool

    Dude I have a question

Why do people choose to not eat meat, but try to make fake meat? I just can't understand this.

Is this a blend or are half of the burgers one or the other?

It was carved on a cave wall somewhere - “bad hunter make good salad”

Aside from chronic health (re: dangerous, auto immune disorders, etc.) reasons, there are no arguments outside of personal preference. If you CAN eat meat and you don’t, it’s either detrimental to your health (not because it’s “unhealthy”) or because you have an emotional motivator: healthier living, animal cruelty, unsettled by the death of an animal, etc.

I understand that. What is also true, however, is what you’re talking about. If I ate brisket every meal, I’d be dead yesterday. The products being produced that mimic (and can be argued are “indistinguishable to the real thing” are far more unhealthy than the real thing). At this specific juncture, you’re making a very deliberate choice not based on health, but based on preference.

I don’t judge folks who want a meat free meal/diet, but the products blatantly mirroring real meat are worse for you. A vegan friend walked me through all of this (substituted cheeses, meats, dairies); it’s generally more about preserving life than health - if you’re still eating the highly processed replicas.

A black bean burger sounds healthy… until you see the ingredients used to produce a “beef flavored” burger patty.

The people I know that CANNOT eat eggs, dairy, meat, gluten - in our case, etc. avoid it altogether. Substitutes contain chemicals, gums, and other arbitrary ingredients that still can’t reproduce the real experience.

To each their own and everyone eat according to their preference, but know what you’re eating :) You won’t catch ugliness from me about your diet, but you WILL know exactly what’s in the food I make.
