If those Buicks all had the 3800 V6, then that is actually not shocking mileage! My best friend’s first car was a 1997 Oldsmobile 88 LS (with the 3800 Series II) that he bought from the original owner for $1,500. The car had just 60K miles on, and aside from needing a paint job, it was in perfect condition! My friend installed an upgraded stereo system and a remote started, but aside from routine maintenance and periodically needing the A/C recharged (and getting it repainted), that car was rock solid! I believe it had like 150K or 160K on it when he traded it for a 2006 Nissan Maxima SL in 2010. The dealership gave him exactly what he’d paid for it back in 2005!

He bought the Maxima with like 38K miles on it in 2010, and it had close to 170K on it when he traded it for a 2013 Nissan Altima in 2016! The 2013 Altima was trouble-free at first, but then the CVT started to slip at 93K miles (right after he paid it off, go figure). He traded the Altima for a certified preowned 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe with only 4,000 miles on it right before COVID. In 2023, the transmission in the Hyundai failed at like 70K miles. Thankfully, Hyundai paid for a new one because the vehicle was covered by the 10-year/100K mile powertrain warranty. He traded the Hyundai for a loaded 2021 Subaru Outback in 2023 or 2024, which he paid off early, and so far hasn’t had any trouble.

This pic was taken in 2022. Owner is in LE and wanted a police cruiser like daily. He eventually lowered it and swapped on 2009 SVT Mustang wheels I sold to him.

This pic was taken around 2019 at my favorite breakfast joint at the time. I snapped it because my Brother drove a Ford Escort in the early 90's. I was simply amazed at the condition of this Escort since almost all of these ended up in scrapyards within 10 years after being sold.

1992 Corvette that I saw the other day while running cars for work, and finally stopped to look at it; this is far from being in horrible condition, but it is not mint either. I am far from being a Corvette expert, but in typical stealership fashion, this Vette is super overpriced. It started out at $15K, and according to the website, it has been marked down to $11K.

I would pay $6,000 for it at most IF the A/C works. It would cost probably $1,500 to get the stereo system exactly where I want it, plus the steering column is loose (see below)…

Less than 64K miles, but it’s an automatic, and as stated above it is not exactly mint…

I know that newer C4s had dual airbags, but I thought that was in 1990 (this is a 1992 and it clearly doesn’t have a passenger airbag); 1993, perhaps…?

One thing I do know about C4s is that a 4-speaker AM/FM cassette with no CD player was standard. Most of the C4s that I’ve seen have the upgraded Delco/Bose stereo with both a cassette deck and a CD player, including this one; I’ve heard from a couple C4 owners that the Bose stereo is very problematic, the base stereo is preferred by many C4 enthusiasts who wish to keep the car stock but don’t want the headache of the Bose system…

I had an old boss that weighed a good 300 pounds and drove a Corvette, it was entertaining to see him try to shoehorn himself in and out of it.

See above; I’m a little over 250 and I didn’t like getting and out. However, once I was in the car, I was fine. I would love to have a C4 as a weekend toy, preferably a 1996 so it’s OBD2!

I went up to my friend’s house last Thursday to pick up a scrap dishwasher, and I saw this Detroit landyacht in somebody’s front yard; 1983 Oldsmobile 98 Regency!
