    lmao what an entertaining thread

sorry about the shoddy work OP. If it was a little smoother I'd say you could sand and re-clearcoat it yourself for a better finish, but it looks too bad to even do that with good results.

If they aren't willing to do a refund, let them take another stab at it. If they do a good job, problem solved. If not, then you can pursue other avenues and have proof that you gave them a chance to make it right.

Take it wheeling and put some more "character" scratches on it.

That flawed repair will go away in short order.

The truck will be fine for many years to come.

My first question would be, did the person or business have reviews that were good or photos of work provided by customers that proved what kind of work they do....if they had neither, well that's a shame.

Airbrush touchup and quickie work like this is very hit and miss.

The government will likely protect you from fraud, and even that's not a guarantee. This type of matter is dealt with civilly through small claims courts, lawyers, and all that bs. Do research on a business is your responsibility. Unless he / business spell out some money back guarantee on the work, you're pretty much donezo on this one. If you really wanted this done properly, and if you have a $500 deductible on your insurance, it looks like you didn't know what you were doing. Maybe your DD is higher, but I know mine is $500. Then you weigh in the claim vs out of pocket issues.

Nobody's trying to dunk on you here, but my advice is to learn from your mistakes in handling the problem. Trying to destroy an incompetent businessman or body guy is too much energy and a waste of time.

If you want to put some nasty Google or Yelp review have at it.

If you really wanna waste more time, file a complaint with the BBB.

A wise man once told me, "Time quality and money, pick 2 because you're going to lose one." You chose time and money, and lost quality.

People like the OP is the reason why I don’t want to open up a small business. Dude has left what looks like 4 1-star reviews for the company in question. Move on with your life man, the company tried to make it right but you didn’t take them up on it. Almost want to leave the company a 5 star review for having to put up with the OP

I only left 1 review. Other reviews are probably from people who saw the work. You can start small business, but that's the price you pay for over charging someone while you can't provide the quality. I asked for refund multiple times, I asked him just give me 500 and keep 100, but he kept saying " no refunds " I literally called him 2 hours after the work was done, then again and he only offered to redo the job, but they can't redo it

They can't make it right, know why? Because technician who does the work never quoted 600$, it was owner who did, Tech does quick 100$ repairs with his quick tools. I was there when tech literally told him " TOO MUCH " when owner told him he quoted 600$

He does not have the tools to do 600$ repair owner told me about, this is why I didn't go back. Hope he learns the lesson not to scam people. You have no idea what you are talking about.

There are 2 reviews with what seems to be plastic bumper repairs, I saw it before i went there. I just wanted to give them a chance. I didnt care if it was 600$, I thought it is a small business but maybe guy has the skills, and let him try. I mean everyone starts somewhere right.

But turns out its the sales dude who sets the price without even asking the tech who performs the work, so this is the outcome. The ones I saw are old people reviews, and the damage on bumpers aren't fixed, they just removed the scratch marks but I guess they don't have experience with painting steel, just plastics.

Fair enough. I hope you find a way to either just leave it be or get it fixed properly. Credit for giving a new guy a shot.

    Take care.

Yea I will leave it on for now, I just left a bad review with photos and stopped worrying about it. What's done is done, I am not going to chase someone, I never hold on to whatever is done. I tried few times and he said no refunds, so fk it, ill get it fixed when I have extra $, or ill just replace whole tailgate if it rusts until then

if you're handy (i doubt it since you hired a guy for that) you can get
rubbing compound, polish and some pads and in a few hours i think you will get a result that looks decent

I am handy with under coating and maintenance, some electronics etc. Haven't really done any paint job before, which is why I wanted someone else to do it, i didnt want to do it wrong and have paint bubbling and rust under it but too late now. I might just spray it over to make it look less ugly but I am planning to get whole new tailgate. It has moisture under it already probably, too sad because I sprayed woolwax inside it before, just like rest of the truck, hood, doors etc. I should have just bought new tailgate in a first place, instead of giving someone a chance of 600$

I see where you're coming from on that. When I say this… there are very few "mobile" techs as I will call them that are decent.
In my area we have a mobile mechanic that is awesome. He is an army vet and hasn't had a bad review at all. He is very trustworthy and honest too.
Again I say their is very few and rare like him.

But I do agree with you.

That is exactly the quality I would expect for $600 from a mobile repair guy.

Also, anyone who thinks a proper conventional repair on that should be $300 is clueless.
