CSTs are designed to deploy within hours and can operate independently or in coordination with other emergency response units. They are equipped with mobile labs, communication suites, and decontamination equipment, allowing them to analyze unknown substances on-site and relay information to decision-makers in real time. These technological capabilities are crucial in maintaining situational awareness and enabling coordinated, informed responses.
In addition to emergency deployments, CSTs engage in regular training exercises with local first responders and public safety agencies. These joint exercises build interoperability and ensure that civil authorities are familiar with CST capabilities.
