Not my thing but I'll liken it to alcoholic beverages. I'm a supertaster so anything even slightly bitter is over the top bitter to me. I can't drink beer or pretty much any liquor straight. I need it mixed. Preferably with sugar. If you don't like what I'm drinking because it's a girly drink (true story), don't order one.

Same thing with the fake meat. I'm not eating it so I don't care.

That said, I did have a piece of my wife's gluten free pizza that had Beyond Meat sausage and I was very impressed.
A pound of beef and a pound of bear mixed together and pattied.

Agree with you Beefers, you are correct with your points on meat.

I had an idiot on Reddit say:

“Theres no such thing as animal protein, just protein…. “

Ummmmmm. You can get protein from non animal sources :jpow:

I remember when Travis Barker had his fiery plane crash or whatever, he was a vegan and his Dr told him to heal properly he *needed* real meat sources…..

Not to belabor the point but humans are evolved to eat meat, look at our teeth… they are meant for ripping meat….

But yea, I also agree if you wanna go Veg or Vegan, I will not judge.

It was mixed with the beef so I can't really give you an accurate answer but it didn't taste gamey at all. It was pretty dry but that would also depend on what the mix of the beef was (85/15, 90/10, etc.). It definitely could have used some additional fat.

@Fargo Taco Gotcha, I'd try it on its own for sure. I love Bison. I love alligator. I've had shark, didn't taste like anything. I love grilled tuna. I've never had frog legs but I know I know, "tastes like chicken..."

I’d love to Bear down on one of those burgers!

Jokes aside, the one time I tried bear it was delicious. A guy at work went on a guided hunt and fried up a bunch of meat for the rest of us at work. I’m told that their taste is heavily dictated by their diet. The bear apparently had been eating berries so the meat was sweet.

I can cure chicken wings in 24 hours so letting them "soak" for days seems like overkill

In college and as a young adult I used to buy pre made frozen hamburger patties and Boca burgers (or the cheap alternative) and grill one of each and eat them stacked on a bun. I figured it was easier than slicing tomato/onion/lettuce and I was still getting some veggies!

Pork and chicken are about the only things affordable as far as meat goes anymore. Sometimes I can still get a good price on a pot roast and slow cook that in the crock pot. Other than hamburger beef has become a luxury.

Nice! Discount meat days are great, I love having open freezer space when I see something marked goodly.

    https://www.uschina.org/articles/a-game-of-chicken/

Chicken and pork has become more accessible due to other countries import/export, while that has driven down the amount of slaughterhouses in the US, so it's driven up beef prices, since beef is mostly grown and processed domestically.

I get stew meat chunks and blitz them in the food processor for my ground. Less ground than the stuff you can get that's gone through a grinder, but it can go in the dishwasher and still works as ground a-okay

I buy whatever I find on discount when I can and either cook and freeze right away or freeze right away. I have some short ribs in the freezer that I have no idea when I'll be cooking :p
