2024 Price Thread - What Did You Pay For Your Tacoma?

I'm debating a 2024:

It's pretty much the only Solar Octane left in my area:

MSRP: $55,283
Proposed Price (without TTL): $48,541

I really just need a base TRD OR, the upgrade package is ok I guess, and i don't mind the 33" tire upgrade. The steps would come off immediately and sold.

I'm debating it because I don't need a vehicle. I have a 2 door Bronco that does pretty much everything i need it to do that I'm looking at $37k from Carvana (33k miles). I've been pondering a truck only because I don't really 4 wheel like I did when I got the Bronco, more into mountain biking, and I still surf, kite, etc. so a truck comes in handy.

Right now I'm rolling with no backseats in the Bronco and throwing everything in there with a 1up Bike rack.

I paid $45k for the Bronco 2.5 years ago......so that's $8k for 2.5 years and 33k miles, probably not the best value proposition. I'm going to look up the resale on it if I can just to see how much it devalues a '24 buying it when the '26's are probably coming out in a few months.

As you note - a 2024 is soon to be two model years old. Insurance valuation and later trade-in values don't care whether you bought it in August 2025 or May 2024.
That said, if you keep it ten years that valuation difference doesn't matter much. More difference if you make another change in 2.5 years

What you paid for the Bronco vs. what it's worth in trade really has no functional bearing on the key decision - what's it going to cost to switch to a Tacoma and will the added utility of a pickup vs SUV be worth that cost.

All that said, if you really like the Solar Octane color then 12% off TSRP isn't a bad deal since it wasn't available in 2025 and who knows if it'll come back for 2026.

 

Yeah, I completely agree on what I paid vs. trade in value is not directly tied to the decision to spend $11k to switch from my vehicle to this one. It was mainly just to note that I'm not losing a ton by switching vehicles when it's a want vs. a need. A truck would work better with what I do now.....camping, surfing, foiling, just being able to throw gear in the back.

The issue definitely is that it's the color I want vs. being a 2024 with 2026's coming out. I ran it through Carvana with minimal miles on it and the sell value was $40,800. I think at a minimal I would want 15% off TSRP.

 

They’ll have orange again in the next couple of years. Hopefully Inferno.

 

Yeah, I've been through changing needs before and went from SUV to Tacoma. I use it as a truck regularly enough that I can't see going back to a SUV. It's really nice being able to carry whatever and just hose out the bed.

I'd agree that 15% is a good target - but also remember many (most) people don't think about model year impact on value, and dealers know that. If they think they can get that asking price waiting a bit longer they'll be less inclined to meet your target. Good luck.

 

Yeah, I was actually parked next to an Inferno the other day, prefer Solar Octane. I've bounced around the idea of getting a '23 TRD Pro, but most of them are $50k and have as many or more miles than my vehicle. Not that it matters as much, but it's really hard mentally to say....I'm going to trade my '23 plus $12k for another '23 with the same mileage (and I don't know how well those miles went).

 

Should you ever start thinking you might consider this, go drive a '23 and '24 back to back.

That should cure you the notion.

(while I find my 2017's 3.4 V6 tolerable if mildly annoying at times, the 4th gen motor & transmission is a big improvement)

 

Along with a white wheel option.

 

I did that Saturday actually, 2021 TRD Off Road and a 2025 TRD Off Road. I agree......it's a marked improvement. I don't care that much on power/transmission, but the interior was a lot more comfortable in the new one.

 

I am not a Solar fan. But it’s always interesting to see what people like.

 

"Wave maker" - attack of 90's teal (bad then, bad now) will test that severely. Wow. I despise it (I get it, Toyota is running out of "new" colors ). and it's not lost on me - there is a sect of humanity that the more obnoxious you make something visually, the more a % is "about it".

 

Hell, I test drove a 24 (4wd Sport non hybrid, hybrid had yet to come on the market) and a 22 Pro back to back. Went home with the 22 Pro, and paid $5000 more for it. No regrets.

I had a 2017 sr5 ….not good. Almost gave up on the Tacoma with that truck. But I got sucked back with the 22 SR5, big improvement over the 2017 …loved it so much that I picked up the 22 Pro early last spring (still have the 22 sr5 <—— daily driver). And to be fair to the thread, I was totally biased against the 24 Sport …it never had chance of coming home with me.

 

I'm here because I plan to replace my nearly nine year old 3rd gen with a 4th gen. Only real question is whether a '25 or a '26.

I started looking after getting rear-ended and not knowing if it might get totaled. It was repaired though, so now there's no urgency. I may as well see what (if any) changes are in the 2026 models.

 

Same. Where's the damn info leaks when you need them?

Sorry to hear the rear-end jobber, glad you got it fixed. When I bought my 22 Pro there was no release date for the hybrid trucks ….I wasn’t going to wait around and waste another summer so I just jumped on the Pro. Totally happy and satisfied with it.

 

All that matters is you're happy with what you have.

As for the crash, fortunately nobody was hurt and I wasn't terribly inconvenienced.

I'll note my TRD OR remained fully driveable and the Kia Optima left on a flatbed.
