    The state DMV is like wickedly behind and short staffed..
    You cannot get an appointment to renew your licence unless you start trying 6 mo out, maybe
    [disclaimer: it is better in super rural shit holes but the urban areas are fucked for this]

    SO the state is in the process of passing a law that will let me drive with an expired licence for TWO FUCKING YEARS!!
    [prbly can't buy a gun with that shit tho]
    They are also in the process of outsourcing the drivers licence shit
    They already outsourced the tag portion of the DMV and the private company that does it is fantastic!!
    Never had to stand in that office for more than 20 min, they just want your $$ and want you to leave


    I'm sure those kiosks are part of the attempt to fix the shit show

    They've been using notaries for tag services here in PA for as long as I can remember. Hell the place we used to use when I was a kid is still there.

    The whole RealID thing made this very clear for almost 10yr . . .


    The tag shit is fine - outsourced - separate office in town
    The DL part is fucked - state run; about to be outsourced
    [there are some political issues too that would get me banned for talking about]


    But the moral is, the state can apparently properly run the ABC store system [aka drug distribution]
    Yet cannot figure out how to effectively and securely issue ID to its citizens so
