Changed spark plugs at 75,000 miles. Old plugs were very brown in color but ok. Not a job I want to do everyday especially the driver's side but it is doable with good tools and patience.

I remember every year I'd 'tune' up my 1993 Toyota Pickup Truck.
Plugs, wires, rotar, dist cap. Was easy as hell and the truck ran great afterwards.
Total cost was like $60.00 and a little me-time to do it.

Now, I probably couldn't even find the damn plugs.

I have a 4 banger, happy since the videos I have watched looks like the 4 plugs are easy to replace, the only caution I see is making sure you purchase OEM plugs.

Did mine a month ago at 73k. Wasn’t as bad as they lead you to believe. My plugs were beautiful color and looked great. Next time 100k or more interval.

If she can do it and you cannot ... hang your head in shame!

Better yet ... surrender your Tacoma to the Tacoma Police and turn in your man-card.

    Ha. True.

My daughter ( 27 years old ) bragged about yanking her head-unit out of her Jetta and replacing
it with a newer unit so she could utilize car-play. She went on about how she followed the video
and it worked like a champ.

I'm pushing 70 and ain't got the limber bones anymore anyway.

^The book interval is 60k? You plan to exceed it by almost 70% and take a look at only one?

Yep! Almost every plug picture I have ever seen here looked absolutely fine. With modern computer controlled ignition systems, plugs last damn near forever now. I'll pull one and then make the decision if I want to do the other five. My guess is it won't need it.

But DI can be harder on the plugs. The plug in 2GR-FKS has three ground electrodes for a reason - to spread out the wear.

Beware if your cats fail within the 8yr/80k emissions warranty period, lack of documented plug replacement at 60k may lead Toyota to deny warranty coverage.

Same, except my last Toyota was a 1975 Celica. It just purred after adjusting the valves. It would put the EVs to shame today with its silence.

Points? Don't remember if it had those, probably did.

Ha - my kid is driving my old 2003 Corolla.
Got like 150,000 miles on it.

Decided WTF and had the plugs changed at 100k.

I asked the mechanic how did the old plugs look - he said they still looked new.
