So I had to fix my ac since the clutch failed and I did go with an aftermarket compressor since the oem was on backorder and way more $. I replaced and recharged correctly and the ac got cold then shut off again after a few seconds. Read on here and was advised about the rpm lock sensor on aftermarket compressors being crap so I swapped the old to the new and bam it worked. I decided to do some maintenance then and changed my plugs and serpentine belt and the lower idler pulley. Two days later my truck overheated while idling for 10 minutes with the ac on, it was 94 degrees out side. Overflow tank filled and sprayed out some and was full. Squeezing the upper hose i noticed the radiator cap was leaking so I replaced the cap and refilled the radiator and it was good for a few days. Then I did a 2and a half hour drive one way and then came back and sat at idle for 5 min and it started overheating again. Had bubbles in the overflow tank and coolant sprayed everywhere again.started thinking clutch fan last night but it seemed OK but my hoses upper and lower were at a significant difference in temperature. So I was like fucking thermostat!. Autozone and O'Reillys wanted like $190 and didn't have them in stock. Had to drive 50 miles to get one so I just ordered one from Amazon with the oil cooler line for $45 and they had it on my porch in 7 hours... so anyway I drained all my coolant(Radiator Block, and overflow) and put on the aftermarket and purged the air out and it idled and reved for almost 2 hours, every thing seemed good. As soon as I pulled out to head home a check engine light popped, so I turned around and scanned it and I got PO59714. I cleared it and it comes right back on. So for shits and giggles I unplugged the connection from the new installed thermostat and plugged it into the old one and cleared the code and it never came back. So my question is the sensor isnt swappable..... someone fuckg help me please. Pardon my language

Well, you seem to be throwing money and parts at it without knowing what's actually wrong with it.
    Best of luck.

I’d pick up an OEM thermostat.

    Agree.

Modern vehicles are much more sensitive than ones from times past, with electronic items OEM is usually best.

I agree with you there, but it takes them forever to get parts at this toyota dealership they order once a week which seems ridiculous to me .I need my truck to go to work everyday so I had no choice. Good thing is it's not overheating now but check engine light is on.

Yeah I guess call me stupid should be on my shirt. But they are sending a replacement one be here at 8 am so I guess I'll just plug it in and see if the code clears then id swap it and be done. If it doesn't then I guess I'll order through Toyota for 10 times the price and get it in 3 weeks but unfortunately I have to make it to work. Then I'll send the aftermarket crap back.

At least it didn't overheat today that part is fixed.
