Alright folk, I threw a 295/70/17 up next to my worn 285/70/17 GY duratrac and there isn’t much a difference in size being completely honest. I also compared em to a Yokohama X-AT in the same 295/70/17 size and the difference is fairly noticeable. BFG makes a 305/70/17 and those may size similarly to a true 295/70. I think I’m likely going to go that route.

Recently switched from KO3 (265/70r17 lrE) to Falken Wildpeak AT4W (255/80r17 lrE), only reason to switch is I wanted the pizza cutter.
I really liked both of them, Falken definitely felt a bit more soft/plush and doing a better job dampening the road (both tires same psi), I am suspecting the narrower profile and taller side walls helps a lot in this.

Looks great, are these E or C load? What are the actual mounted dimensions?

Pretty much anything that KO3 has a size for has been discontinued in KO2. You can kinda see this on tire rack by looking at all the KO2 sizes and seeing which are available but are on special/closeout…indicating they are going bye bye soon.

20 more sizes were just released last Friday, they are getting close to being done with the rollout. I think it’s 100% by May next year.

They’re dropping a 35x11.5 next May.. which measures 34.5” tall. I think I’d really like that tire but I don’t think I can wait until next May for rubber.

I think in the roll out they are phasing out some of the 16" tires since that's not as popular a rim size any more. As far as I know, Toyota is the only one selling trucks with 16's on them any more.

    would you consider
    305/70r17 33.9 x 12 @ 64lbs
    or
    285/75r17 33.8 x 11.2 @ 63.2lbs

Before BFG updated their website they provide more details with the tire dimensions. For a KO2 the 315 was 12.5" wide and my 285's on a 8.5" wide rim with zero offset it is closer to 11.5" wide. The 305 is an "F" load. Something BFG is showing a lot more of than with the KO2. I would need to use a spacer or a negative offset wheel to use the 315 and most likely with the 305 as well. No plans to change wheels and I won't be using spacers. That is why the 35x11.5 is so appealing. My KO2's in 285/75/17 only came in an "E" load rating. A little rough ride at times. The KO3 in 35x11.5x17 will be available in a "C" load. My understanding is that all KO3's will be 3 ply sidewall. KO2's sizes were either 2 or 3 ply sidewall with all "E" loads I believe were 3 ply but only some "C" loads were. Something BFG did not have on their website.

The 305 is an F load… so no, it’ll be a dump truck

The 285/75 is interesting. Ive actually ordered a C load 285/75/17 falken at4 so we’ll see how that goes. The Falken runs true to size or even big… the bgf runs small. No 295 Falken yet… just wish the Falken wasn’t so heavy…

yeah, the wildpeak AT4 gained a lot of weight vs the wildpeak at3. Read a couple reviews and see if you'll be okay with the snow/winter performance of the at4.

I actually watched that video last night…. Those are all E rated tires. I feel like a C rated tire might be more plyable and perform better in snow however?

The tread has always kinda reminded me of something, but I could never quite put my finger on it...until tonight. Anyone else?

When I was a kid in the early to mid 70's, my dad had some sandals that were made out of used tires. He got them in Mexico.
Around July of 2000 I went to Cancun and looked for them - couldn't find them. Apparently they were only around for the hippies in the 60's.

Then later in about 2006, still chasing the dream, I was in an ankle boot for an injury. I wore the tread off of it pretty quick and got a used tire from Discount and cut the tread and fit it in the ankle boot. Worked like a CHAMP.

Always thought that off road tires were missing a HUGE marketing opportunity to put their tread on shoes.
