Took my son's '21 tacoma off road in to the dealership to have a leaking steering box replaced under warranty repair. Took it home and the A/C does not work. With the temp set to 60 degrees, it just blows warm air. Press the A/C button and it illuminates for a few seconds then flashes and goes off. I tried to listen to the compressor turn on, the idle goes up a few RPM, but I don't hear the compressor kick on. I looked for the fuse under the hood, and it is empty, so the model with the auto temp must not have a fuse there. There are no wires for the fuse to plug into. Any ideas what they may have left off, a connector somewhere that I can't seem to locate? He is going to try to call the dealer in the morning, but I doubt they will be able to get him in. August in Missouri can be miserable without A/C. Any ideas? Phil

Call the dealer and don’t take no for an answer. They screwed it up, guaranteed.

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
-edit: I was wrong, he found the connector to the compressor disconnected.

My money is that they damaged the line, gas leaked and your a/c is no longer working. I’ve done racks in the past and that Freon line is ridiculously close to other lines and the rack. Remember, Freon does not vanish it goes somewhere and that somewhere is a hole. cheers!

The flashing A/C light means the compressor rpm and engine rpm do not match.
The compressor has a plug on it, see if it is plugged in.

    You have an RPM discrepancy....

I called the dealership and they are going to try to get us in next week. (my son has to go out of town for the weekend) I am sure they screwed it up, I am going to try to find the hi and low pressure switchs to make sure they are plugged in, I tried to find a connector on the compressor, but could not see one. It is not that hot this weekend, so he will be fine for the weekend.

Usually on top, close to the front. If disconnected there should be dangling wire

Guy locally to me did that.
They trespassed him, and he spent the next three weeks on the sidewalk right-of-way with a cardboard sign stating his grievances.
I always wondered, what if anything at all, that did to the dealer's sales..

If they nicked a line, they KNEW they let the cold out. You don't ''overlook'' that. Why they would unplug it I don't know, you're not working anywhere around it and unplugging it doesn't affect the pressure anyways. Off, it equalizes anyways on the high/low sides.

Well I got a chance to look at it in the daylight. Not that the light helped, the connector on the back of the compressor was not connected. Plugged it in and we have A/C. Thanks all, now a call to the stealership. Phil

Don’t settle. Go back to the dealer and firmly make them make it right. Give you some $$ back at minimum. You shouldn’t need to fix your truck after they monkeyed with it.
