So I was sitting in a left turn lane, 4th vehicle back. Light turns green, cars ahead of me move. I press the accelerator and - nothing happens. Like the truck had died. Still had RPMs showing, but noticed the instrument panel was showing the Yield sign. After a second push on the pedal the truck moved and everything was fine.

I have never had this happen before in the 2 months I've had it. The yield sign was 3 lanes over, but the truck obviously saw it because it was on the IP. Is this something the truck did because it sensed cars in front of me and the Yield sign was active?

It didn't do it again the entire way home and it seems fine. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them.

I wonder if it was because it saw the cars in front of you and braked? You can adjust the following sensing distance. When it brakes, I think you have to hit the brake to release the auto brake. I’m not super familiar with all the tech yet though as a disclaimer.

Dunno. They were moving along away from me so I doubt it. Besides, that's normal left turn behavior that I do constantly. Only thing that was different was the Yield sign in the instrument panel.

I don't think the truck's observance of the Yield sign had anything to do with it. Likely a transmission mechanical problem.

Wasn't the transmission slipping or anything far as I can tell. The engine just acted like I wasn't pressing on the accelerator at all.

That would definitely freak me out for a sec! My 2023 doesn’t have the fancy road‑sign assist stuff but I know the 4th gens will show signs on he dash and cut the throttle if it thinks you’re still braking or about to rear‑end someone. It sounds like the auto‑hold or pre‑collision system was still active, so the truck didn’t respond until you pressed the pedal again. I’d take a look at your driver‑assist settings or check with the dealer to make sure everything’s calibrated. these things are smart, but sometimes too smart for their own goo!!

My bad, in my first reading of your post I thought you were saying the RPMs went up but didn't move. Upon re-reading it, I guess not.

No it was the weirdest thing. Pressed accelerator, nothing happened. No increase in RPM was like engine died - but it didn't. I let off gas and did it again, worked fine. Hopefully it's a one-time fluke. I don't go to that store very often to running into that weird Yield sign isn't something that will happen every day.

    You have a hybrid?
My ford hybrid acted the same way as if it didn’t know if it should be in electric or hybrid or gas. Then it would go like a bat out of hell after that. Only left turns from a stopped intersection.

Yep. Not all bad though. I was pulling into a parking space and got too close to the parked car in front of me and the truck stopped immediately and displayed large Brake signs on the display.

That sounds like your PDA. Proactive Driving Assist. It will apply braking if it senses you getting too close to another car. Even if the other car is accelerating away from you, at its highest sensitivity setting that could be enough to trigger the car to brake or refuse to release the brakes.

Mine became very noticeable one specific day. I don’t know what I had done to trigger a change in the settings, but I think that’s what happened. Once I found that setting and dug into it, it was set to the highest sensitivity. I am certain it had not been set to that sensitivity when I first bought the truck.

anyway, I turned it down to the lowest sensitivity, and it took the problem away immediately. You can also turn the entire function completely off. Dig into your manual or just start exploring on your settings and look for PDA.

I don't know that I want to turn it off. It may have stopped me from hitting the other car. At first, I thought I had hit the other car but it was the breaking of the truck.

I don't know why that happened but I'll sell you my 2015 for $60k. It only has 183,000 miles and I've never seen a warning light of any kind on the dashboard

Not sure it's the same thing. I was trying to go straight ahead at this point because I was behind 5-6 other cars at the turn light. There was no wheel spin and I wasn't giving it a ton of throttle because I wasn't trying to merge into traffic . Just normal acceleration while I followed a bunch of other cars straight before the actual turn. There couldn't be any wheel spin because the engine simply did nothing when I accelerated at a normal rate. Honestly I felt like maybe the engine had died but after I let off the gas and tried again it was all normal.

pretty sure it is. at the end of the day the truck is just randomly ignoring the throttle input.

the yield sign has nothing to do with it.
if it was due to the cars in front of you it would have displayed a message on the dash.
i've spun the tires on accident a few times during rain and it doesn't ignore the throttle input.
it's not about "saving the driveline" cause it doesn't do it consistently.

and the biggest issue is it is so inconsistent it is going to be extremely difficult to have a dealer be able to replicate it.
