I have a 2020 Tacoma sr5 with a 6 foot bed and extended cab, 6 cyl 2wd. The truck has 25,000 miles on it. I love the vehicle. I feel the need to haul people and other things in the dry. I have two utility trailers and a box trailer. Been hoping to find something like a 2023 4 runner 2 wheel drive used. Not much to choose from. Don't have to do anything but am looking. Any recommendations on where to look. Don't wanna buy a problem vehicle

Being not sure whether you should get a truck or an suv has me wondering if you really need either.

Either you mostly haul gear/materials or people.
It’s like asking ‘do I want tracksuit or a hamburger?’ Well, normally it depends. You looking for something to eat or to wear?

So, might a Prius actually be the right choice for your actual transportation needs?
    Be honest!

    Anyway, you do you.

When I bought my Taco, I told the wife I was selling the 4R buuuuut, I still have it. I'm half heartedly trying to sell it but it's such a damn good truck I hate to get rid of it. If you go with the 4R, you wouldn't regret it. And as another guy said, get yourself a little utility trailer if you need to haul.

Proportionally there are far fewer 2WD 4Runners built than 2WD Tacomas. Widen your search to include 4WD 4Runners.

Common reliability issues affecting 4Runners don't show up until later. Only thing to watch for on a 2023 is paint bubbling near the tailgate handle garnish. If you find a white one, watch for wide-area paint peeling - this issue affects multiple models from multiple brands.

All I can say is if you're not looking for 4wd, there are a lot of crossover SUVs out there that will be more comfortable, more fuel efficient, and likely cheaper (for what you get) than the 4Runner.

I got the 4Runner for interior space, rough road capability, and occasional towing. Without the middle one, I'd probably be in a Sienna right now instead.

Edit: I'm a former Tacoma owner who switched to a 4R.

    Not quite.

We traded in our 4Runner, ended up with Sequoia and Tacoma.

4Runner's second row seats are just too cramped compared to Sequoia, then the 3rd row.

You all must be tall people. I thought there was a lot of room in the backseat of a 5th gen and I’m 6’ 1”. Now the Tacoma there’s no room in the back seat.

    Not tall, but old people.
My parents and in-laws are in their 80's. They don't drive, we take them everywhere. We use the back seats and 3rd row a lot. I removed the middle seat in the second row, so much easier for my kids to get in and out of 3rd row.

Sequoia has more leg room than Tahoe and even Suburban, but smaller trunk.

I love this thread. My 97 4R got totalled in an accident year. Taught both daughters to drive manual on that thing, and teaching them to drive every Sunday morning for a year was 100% some of the best times of my life. RIP.

My daughter is replacing it with 92 xtra-cab.

I've got my 2001 regular cab - got me through the hurricanes last year, the lift saved it's life from Helene.

I love the regular cab so I cannot haul people. Me and a +1, that's it. Although I'd take a 60/40 so we could stuff a 3rd in if we needed it. Squeeze em in and make memories.

    My wife has the Highlander.

    Enjoy them all.
