BTW, you did get the right engine, right? There are 2 versions, one with a vacuum pump and one without.

 

Yep I sure did, I almost didnt though. I did read though that you can swap a non vac in but you gotta swap cams and install that vac pump on the back

 

Abomination fixed.. the engine should be getting tested tomorrow, hopefully get started on the install later this week!

 

Here's the results from the leakdown test I had done, I dont think these numbers are good.. can anyone confirm that?

 

My understanding is generally below 20% for a used passenger car engine, I am for below 10% in my race bikes... I wouldn't be thrilled with that.

 

is engine supposed to be warmed up before the leak-down test?

 

It's supposed to be. I would have also give a couple oil squirts in the plug holes to see if it is the rings or valves leaking. IMO

 

What im confused about is how all 6 are bad?

 

that would lead me to think it wasnt done right. also you mention it was a 2wd engine. did the listing say 4wd? and do you think they could have been lying about the mileage?

 

Unlikely. I dont think there is a published data for the normal leakdown test for 2gr-fks.

 

Let's assume there is the issue, they should be able to hear the air coming out of intake, exhaust or the crankcase at 70 psi.
I could hear the air coming out while using a paddle board pump.

 

Talked to the tech, he said since it wasn't warmed up, it passed the test, since the piston rings would expand

 

I would find another tech.

Nah. He just likes his truck and wants to put it back on the road. I'm the same way so I can relate. If you're happy with a leased vehicle and get a new one every 3 years it wouldn't make sense.

 

Engines back, gonna get started this weekend

 

Pushed the taco outside, pulled the tundra with the engine in, unloaded, and began to teardown. Wiring harness off, ps pump, ac comp removed, intake pulled off, about to start putting the supercharger on.. lost the garage opener so had to get a new one
