Let us know how this turns out. BTW, if you can change out the clutch with the compressor in place in 10 minutes you are a better man than me. I owned my 2009 Sport V-6 for 14 1/2 years and never had to touch the A/C system so I don't remember how accessible the compressor is and whether you can get the socket wrenches and puller in there. IOW, you may need to remove it to do the clutch and if so, just put on a whole new compressor. That would be my recommendation, anyway. Most of my auto A/C work experience comes from GM products. I was amazed at how much better my Tacoma was.

Truck is headed to a shop to be worked on Tuesday. I’m throwing the towel in. I tried to take off the skid plate to get to the compressor clutch and broke 3 of the 4 bolts. Then went and bought an Icon bolt extractor set and broke 2 of them and didn’t get a single bolt removed.

I’ll update the post when I get it back

Good luck, at least we have a little break in the heat wave this coming week. Put a little anti-seize on those skid bolts when you get a chance. Or ask the shop to do that when they re-install it.

Just updating like I said I would. Truck needed compressor, condenser, they sold me on an idler pulley and a belt but I think that may have been a rip $1800

If the idler is original probably smart to replace it. Those are cheap anyway. $1800 doesn't sound too bad. Good luck.

okay wasn’t sure. I’m pretty sure he said “it had some wobble to it” he was the service writer not the technician but I googled it and it said wobble was normal so I wasn’t sure. They have good reviews and are a Toyota specific shop so I’ll just have to take their word for it.
