Good morning everybody. Cooler weather, relatively speaking, down here too. Also rain for the next week, a few days have enough predicted it’s more than a pop up thunderstorm.

    Have a great weekend!

Good morning. The front moved through pushing the rain offshore. It’s nice and sunny today. Yes, I’ll be sitting in the sand later today.

    Good morning.

It was in the low 60's last night, so the bedroom window got opened and the ceiling fan got the nice fresh moving around. I actually slept decently for the 1st time in a while.

    The HVAC issue

    Let’s start with… it’s works fine.
    I have this Dumb thermostat
    2 wire (red/white)

    IMG_3573.jpg

I want a Smart thermostat. That requires a C wire or some jumper thingy.

this is the unit in the wall.

    The question is:
If I can access the red/white wire connection (I can, it will take some work but I can make it happen)

Can I just run a proper wiring setup that includes a C wire?

You can only run a C if the AC has a C on it as well. It might. I'm not that sure if yours does.. But that is some OLD wiring. Mine looks like a Cat-5 Ethernet Cable someone split open and used all of the eight wires to make it work. Which brings up a great question........ Why don't they just run it to an Ethernet Plug in the wall and then let you run a short 6" Ethernet cable from the thermostat to the wall and viola!

We just took a Saturday nap and woke up because our bedroom is on the South West corner of the house. Cool in the AM but hotter'n Satan's Butt Hole in the evening. AC Guy says it's running fine and that it's just time to blow in $6,000 in Insulation. Might do it but meanwhile I'm shopping for a window unit AC to boos that area of the house.

Today was a nice beach day. Warm but not hot with a cool breeze off the water. This flew overhead:

fk that shit. I’m part time in way northern AZ and I fkn hate going to Phoenix 9 months of the year. But sometimes is unavoidable. I’ve flown back into PHX and picked up my car from a covered parking deck at 10pm and it’s still 90°+. Fk that.

if you’re gonna do insulation, think about it sooner than later. I’m on the verge of an energy efficiency update (verrrryy old built in fireplace) and while there’s significant tax credits, some of them are expiring Dec 31, 2025. (They were set to expire in 2032, but they got slammed in julys latest fed bill :angrygirl::annoyed::anonymous:
