This is the part where @Shellshock shows up with a link to the hood mounted solar setup

Yeah it makes a difference. Cheaper panels will lose significant power production from a small shadow as it shuts off large sections.

mppt chargers also make a huge difference.

Hood solar panels are great. Close to the battery and you don’t use the hood for anything else anyway. Can usually get a 80-100w on the hood pretty easily depending on vehicle.

I’d have one on my tundra but I have too many hood scoops. I had one on the Tacoma and it’s still on there today.

    I keep wanting one.

And then I keep needing other things first

I can't imagine wanting to put anything on my hood that might affect visibility. The stupid skewp is irritating enough.

Solar barely reflects light and the panels are super thin

Mine helped visibility cuz it cut down on the hood glare

they stick onto the hood directly so it’s super thin

Had them on my 2016 Tacoma. Good for some things, not for others. Depends what you are trying to accomplish

Front is way higher with Westcoast design other than stock Trd pro OEM! I need to lift rear now!

I got a perfect spot on my roof rack for a 100w panel between the crossbars. The more expensive renogy I linked would actually end up sitting below the top of the crossbars, so l could still carefully use the rack to put my stuff up there at night.

But honestly, if I can also find a thin flexible 20ish watt panel that can fit over then curve of that annoying laser focusing sun reflecting hood scoop, it might kill two birds with one stone.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Well, it's another TW work day. Today it's wheel bearings for Tim. Supervisor Dan should be here shortly.
