Help worn pad

So I changed my front pad and rotor 2006 tacoma base model. Recently the front right is making the scraping noise saying it hitting the sensor. What could have caused the right side to wear down faster then the left side???

 

A sticking caliper, slide pin(s) or pad is usually the culprit if one pad is worn more than the other.
If both pads in one caliper are are worn more than the others, It can be a brake line or master cylinder. (or the caliper)

Just went through this this week.
My brother had a caliper that was sticking, but it wasn't actually the caliper.
It was the brake line.

I finally called me after he replaced the pads and put on a new caliper and it was still sticking.
The hard part was explaining to him how to crack the lines up the system in order to find the issue.

 

Air bubbles???

 

Air in the lines won’t cause uneven wear. Air causes spongey feel brake pedal.

 

How much was it worn vs the other side...inner or outer pad worn more

 

I haven't take. Or check yet but the right side is screeching when step on brake

Noise doesnt mean the pad is thin. Take the wheels off and look

Good grief man. It could be a lot of things. A piece of hardware rubbing on the rotor. A rock could be stuck in the caliper

Take the fuckin wheels off and look. Guessing won't help at all

 

Yes just trying to factor if it none of those things. Also fine when I first drive then when warmed up it start to squeek

 

A hot squeak can be a symptom of a sticking caliper. Or cheap pads

If your calipers are the originals from 2006 they could easily be getting sticky with possible pistons siezing and not letting go when you take your foot off the brake

A sticking caliper would be reflected in uneven pad wear side to side. You need to go look.

 

Yes later at work . Brand new changed pad and rotor last year both sides

 

A screecher tang that's bent from shipping, so it touches the rotor way before the pad has worn down.

Is the pad in backwards? If it is the rotor may be shot.

 

What brand of pad and rotor did you use? OEM, Parts Store, eBay? Did you buy the cheapest thing they had? Lots of variables here.

 

You can turn the wheel and take a pic with your phone behind the caliper and wheel and see the pad thickness without taking the wheel off.

Unfortunately, Brake Best is just another rebranded generic parts store brand. The fact that their name includes the word "best" means pretty much nothing.
